council with its complaints regarding outstanding 1992 adult user fees at a private meeting with town superintendent of parks and facilities john crawley the club adult executive was also told the town was considering adding users fees forjouth soccer as well as the adult division for the coming season club senior division officials have been protesting a demand from the town that they pay 2000 in adult user fees for the 1992 season the club has argued that while it was told as early as last spring it might be hit up for the tariff it wasnt actually billed until this january crawley disagreed telling the tribune wednesday the invoice in question was mailed on nov 20 of last year it asked the club to remit a cheque for 2000 in accordance with councils resolution of aug 4 1992 said crawley a second invoice was mailed dec 11 he added asked whether there had been an invoice send to the club as early as last spring or summer as suggested by a rec office spokesman last month crawley said he did not know thats a hard one for me to answer said crawley pointing to the fact he had only been working for the town since last september im not familiar with the sequence of correspondence i wasnt aware there was a problem until october or november crawley said he realized that by billing the club after the 1992 season had ended it could be difficult to collect the money from last years players the club senior executive recently decided not to pay the outstanding amount while club officials reported crawley has told them monday that the town hadnt handled the adult user fee issue as well as it might have crawley denied having said that he did say however that he was sympathetic to their concerns crawley told the tribune he suggested monday the club make an appeal in writing for council to forgive the debt if they didnt intend to pay it if council agrees they the club have a point then they can decide to forgive the debt as for soccer club concerns over the proposed general user fee he said the fees have become a way of life in most neighboring municipalities he said the issue would be put before council on march 1 6 by which time his staff would have had the chance to work out facilities cost on a time slot basis hopefully it will be resolved by the end of the month then we the recreation department will know and the user groups will know he added that groups were forewarned last fall they might be assessed for the 1993 season he said he realized the fall notice may not have been early enough for the club which had already arranged its budget by then clipper
