in whitchurchstouffville last week as was reported in the weekender whitchurchstouffville fire crews battled the 100000 blaze last thurs day for more than five hours to confine the surging flames emanating from the bethesda sideroad home fire chief bill brown said the department was suspicious of the cause of the fire after hours of investigation mainly becauseit went up so fast brown called in the authorities york regional police and the fire mar shalls office are still investigating arson is one of the most difficult things to prove and it could take months for authorities to come to a conclusion brown said meanwhile a local resident who lived in the house as a child offered some history of the old farmhouse dorothy waggafter reading the weekender story said the fire wipes out all childhood memories of her and her two sisters margaret and reta wagg said the farmhouse was originally owned by james wagg in 1872 and then by vincent wagg in 1926 the sideroad was then known as wagg sideroad until vincent retired to stouffville april 30 1961 it then became bethesda sideroad wagg recalled she also said the barn and some adjoining buildings burned down 11 years ago on feb 4 1980
