nubufcip t 28 1990 p5 editors mail unilingual decision wrong dear editor re the unilingual declaration by uxbridge council how embarrassing to think i was feeling sorry for all the rea sonable people who lived in sault ste marie and who had to endure the national embarrass ment of watching their council lors portray to the world an impression of a bigoted unrea sonable group by voting them selves a unilingual town now i have unhappily discov ered that uxbridge council has done the same darned thing but to save me national dis comfort they throughtfully snuck it past us last october and kept it quiet now i have heard until im nauseous the economic argument that this is a fight with queens park over funding policy if our council or any other has a problem with premier david petersons policies take the mat ter up with the government itself insteadof taking sideswipes at people in our community who do not deserve it if council harbored burning resentment over mr bourassas sign law it should take thematter up with him and his government notpublicly declare it wont sup ply french services when no one has even asked it to it is interesting that the people who have really jumped on this bandwagon in ontario are self- styled royalists who havent found a burning issue since the great flag debate in the 1960s they still want to sing god save the queen and fly the red ensign with all the serious problems in the world right now dont they feel just a little foolish getting their knickers in a twist about something this silly gormleynews local man recuperating mr glen wideman is
