committee meeting to present her concern the womans father gord wagg spoke to council on his daughters behalf we feel this should not have been passed it is a short driveway and the fire hydrant doesnt allow for a safe access in and out of the garage he said we understand it was passed by council because the original design was for a curved driveway mr wagg added ward 5 councillor doug alles said the owners are parking almost on the lawn to avoid the hydrant and that the plan should have specified a fire hydrants existence mrs laduca said she was quoted a 2500 figure for the removal of the hydrant but added that price is very unreasonable with the amount of money we pay for taxes i think we deserve a decent access to our home and should be able to use our two car garage she wrote in a letter to council town clerk pat oakes said she reviewed the original plans and noted there was no fire hydrant on them but the town could not call the developer now for removal costs fire chief bill brown said he doesnt have a problem with moving the newer style hydrant which would involve taking it out capping the connection and mov ing the structure 20 or 30 feet it should be the previous owners responsibility and the price of the house would be enhanced if the hydrant was removed the chief added mayor fran sainsbury said un fortunately the hydrant was not specified on the original plans or council would have made a stipulation for the developer to move it we will have to watch plans in future to see what is there we dont want to see this happen in the future a p tightlipped
