on friday about so young people from across canada competed for the title of overall champion in five categories quiz speeches judg ing calf confirmation and showmanship ribbons were given to all of the participants while medals went to the top three plaques were awarded to the champion in each category the grand champion showper- son was laha beida of rylie alta while the reserve cham- pion was john brydeh ofmont forest ont lana also showed the grand champion female followed by wade dcgari ofpraoeedward island with reserve champion 5 the province of ontario won the group ofthree with three uniform cattle i i award winners from f the markhamstouffville area were john walton of markham who won fifth overall as well as se cond with his junior yearling and jenny pritzker who won first with whitchurchstouffville cap tured top honors in a threetown blood donor challenge held last friday at the legion hall the blood donor challenge pit ted newmarket richmond hill and whitchurchstouffville against one another to see which town could donate the most blood for the red cross society because of population discrepancies the town with the highest percentage of residents donating was declared the winner and the winning mayor also deputy clerk moves on whitchurchstouffville deputy clerk pat halland has resigned mrs halland resigned her posi tion two weeks ago after announ cing she had accepted a position with the town of vaughan i just felt the experience i would gain going to the town of vaughan would be invaluable she said in an interview i was just ready to move mrs halland spent fouranda half years working in stouffville she said woking here was a pleasure and enjoyed the fact she had a wide range of things to do while here stouffvile has really been ex cellent for me she said mrs hallands new position in vaughan will be supervisor of committee secretariat services it basically means im going to be responsible for council and committees she said it was just a
