friends and relatives paid respects to the memory of austin reesor rr l markham mr reesor died suddenly oct 12 at his home lot 3 cone 10 markham he was 84 born june 16 1904 the son of arthur and eliza jane burns reesor austin maintained an in tense love for his community it was his greatgrandfather samuel reesor who bought the 100acre farm in 1847 a brother wally still works the pioneer property for a period of 25 years austin served as a radio officer on the great lakes ships he also spent 15 years with the ministry of transportin telecommunications following retirement austin purchased and operated woodland park cedar grove he celebrate in home church jim and franke lewis formerly of ninth line markham then ballanirae and now barrie celebrated their 50th wedding anniver sary saturday in first markham baptist church where they were married mr and airs lewis have two sons gene of pefferlaw and jerry in toronto one daughter laurie garrett of newmarket and nine grandchildren jennifer building that presently serves as a community centre he was an enthusiatic volunteer with the markham district historical society he worked in close cooperation with good friend john lunau in copy ing pioneer photos mr lunau is a former museum curator he served on the reesor family genealogy committee austin was proud of his collec tion of marine artifacts he donated these to the marine museum in toronto he also donated the equipment from lapps ceder mill cedar grove to the museum it was us ed during applefest day oct 15 he planted the apple orchard on the museum site austin served on the first board of directors at the markham district historical society established in 1969 he was a director more than 10 years his assistance was recognized through the presentation of a life membership austin enjoyed sports both as a player and a spectator he was a member of the cedar grove hockey team and pitched hard ball as a student attending markham high school he was an avid blue jay fan
