uxbridge council news tribune november 11 1987 c15 township rejects permit application by robin robinson a proposal to obtain a wayside permit to operate a temporary gravel pit in goodwood failed to get appoval from uxbridge township council november 9 temporary wayside permits are issued by the provincial ministry of natural resources but applicants must comply with municipal bylaws before a permit is issued consulting engineer bob lack- iey of candevcon went over the plan on behalf of his client l k haulage at the november 2 plan ning meeting the haulage firm owns the property and will haul the gravel from the site but a con tractor will actually apply for the license according to lackley the firm wants to obtain a temporary license to extract gravel from the site at the third line and the 21st sideroad at the same time the company will go ahead with plans to get a permanent license to operate a gravel pit at that site lackley said the company has a rehabi litation plan to revamp the pit af ter the aggregate is exhausted and is offering to contribute 4 cents per tonne of extracted mate rial to uxbridge township for up grading roads in order to obtain a permanent license the land must be rezoned and public meetings must be held that process can take up to five years lackley said but in most municipalities a temporary license can be granted without rezoning and without the same degree of public input if the material is to be used for a gov ernment project that process is much quicker mayor gerri lynn oconnor re fused to endorse the plan saying a wayside permit negates public input and puts the township at a disadvantage a wayside per mit has only been granted once before in uxbridge township the last time a wayside per mit was issued in this town there was almost an uprising why the township is so against wayside permits is that we have no con trol no control over hours of op eration etc mayor oconnor said council voted not to give its approval to the plan but it is the ministry that has final approval on applications lackley told the tribune that regardless of whether a wayside permit is granted the company will pro ceed with plans to obtain a perma nent license for that site sp u i li jj j i kfrf wi king size and 100s fmk tout fftki warning health and welfare canada advises that danger to health increases with amount smoked avoid inhaling average per cigarette cameo special king size 10 mg tar 09 mg nicotine 100 mm 10 mg tar 09 mg nicotine
