tribune october 15 1986 a9 late helen little sorrily missed cedar grove the passing of mrs archie little sept 26 1986 has been keenly felt in the cedar grove area and beyond mrs little the former helen freeman was a lifelong resident of the community born on the family farm steeles avenue rr 1 markham she was the daughter of the late george mi and nellie freeman as a young girl she attended box grove public school and later mar kham high school and toronto teachers college after obtaining her teachers certificate she returned to the neighborhood and taught for a period of eight years at cedar grove public school she was highly respected by parents and pupils alike mrs littles life touched all areas of the community she was an active member in the congregation of zion united church assisting in the mission band the womens missionary society and the ucw she taught sunday school many years she was a member in the ladies section of the unionville jr farmers later she assisted in the work of the markham historical society and was a strong supporter of her husband in the work of the jersey club mr and airs little were married sept 21 1935 and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary just over one year ago mrs little suffered a stroke at home and passed away sept 26 in st michaels hospital toronto she was extremely close to her family including barry and aileen robert and carol carolyn and don hoshel grandchil dren douglas david and elaine kim kelly and chris todd and darren and greatgranddaughter heather mrs little has one sister ann rowbotham of cornwall rev michael herman of zion united church cedar grove con ducted the service sept 29 from the dixongarland funeral home markham with interment st andrews cemetery mar kham pallbearers were murray sewell
