continued with their exhibiton schedules on the weekend the stouffville panthers under the direction of alfons rubbens played to a 00 draw with the powerful wexford squad from scarborough i was quite happy with their performance said coach rub bens adding that he did quite a bit of line juggling these exhibition games give me tremendous insight into the players he said it was a very very tense game earlier in the day the royals played host to the sudbury hawks and won the contest easi ly by a 51 count according to rubbens the royals played superbly they seem to be get ting better and better dale johnston has been riding motorcy cles ever since he was a kid growing up in scarborough today the 21yearold york university student is at the top of his class in the 500 cubic centimetre class he says hes looking forward to competing in the canadian cham pionships scheduled for later this summer ball tourney johnston top rider dale johnston a 21yearold ring- wood resident has been riding his teams will vie for 1000 in prize money regular season begins in york the yorkdurham mens slopitch league will open their regular season this week aside from several increased rosters the league is primarily the same as last year the leagues executive is hoping the lar ger rosters will lend a bit more competition to the games the teams competing this year are the ballantrae blazers the claremont bricks goodwood eagles and the stouffville raid ers saints trappers and villagers the league will play games in stouffville on monday and wednesdays at 830 pm and on thursdays at 7 and 9 pm games are
