centres but its quality not quantity that pleases 16yearold lisa boyd of booth drive i like the small town atmosphere says lisa the people are friendly and you get to know almost everyone lisas our girl next door john and carol boyd along with lisa leanna and andrea moved to stouffvil le from mississauga nine years ago although only seven at the time separa tion from public school friends was hard but thats all in the past she has nothing but good things to say about the community and her school shes a stu dent in grade 11 lisas favorite subject is art shes a strong supporter of john roberts an art teacher on the staff at sdss he allows a certain amount of freedom but no one can take unfair advantage she says while volleyballs her favorite sport she also enjoys tennis and swimming the family has a cottage near lake simcoe lisa loves animals not only the fami ly dog buffy but other peoples pets as well shed like to work as a veterina rian and may apply for a parttime job in stouffville next summer in june lisa hopes to visit her uncle and aunt in paris france some day she wants to tour parts of south amer- ica and australia lisa admits one regret that she ever stopped figure skating she was a mem- ber of the club here four years and en joyed the participation especially the carnivals lisa speaks highly of her parents theyre the most important people in her life she says she remembers the good timessummer resorts and camping a show for children this weekend saturday feb 16 and sunday feb 17 immagination will be an asset when the stouffville players perform for stirling rose avenue stouff ville miss stirling died thursday in park view home after residing for a time at glenvale house obrien avenue and main while noble dignity was indeed the margaret stirling so many knew there was an inner devotion that many poss ibly didnt know rev gale mentioned these qualities also it was her dream he said to serve as a medical missionary and in fact she commenced a training course towards this end however her help was needed at home to care for her ailing mother so this dream was never realized however she gave of her time to serve in other ways she collected post age stamps for the leprosy mission assisted with the mustard seed mis sion the christian blind mission inter national and the canadian bible socie ty she was a longtime member in the congregation of st james presbyterian church and the st james womens mis sionary society margaret stirling was born in scar borough feb 4 1902 she was one of four children two brothers william and james are deceased a sister eli zabeth resides at markhaven mar- kham her church association began at an early age within the sunday school and congregation of st andrews scarbor ough when she moved to stouffville in the 1950s she became associated with st james church here while health permitted she seldom missed a service said rev gale the sun has set on her earthly life the sun has risen on her eternal life miss stirling passed away only three days following her 83rd birthday at the funeral service saturday esther powell and stewart mceiroy sang one of margarets favorite hymns blessed assurance jesus is mine the pallbearers were klaas wasse- naar ambrose pullen george stirling claude broad jim stirling and wm gardiner young at heart marmalade gum- drops is a fastpaced childrens
