doortodoor canvassing this year is being sent to each household and in cludes a selfaddressed postage paid return envelope its a new approach for us but mailings in other canadian com munities have been t highly successful for years last year the united way of greater victoria had a tremen dous response over 100000 pieces were mailed and within two- andahalf months nearly 6000 donations were returned the average contribution was 2200 support house york region at its annual meeting this past august the federation of women teachers of ontario adopted as one of its areas of concern the support of women in need in society thus local associations of this organization are en couraged to give aid to projects that are providing a haven for women in crisis york county women teachers association has pledged its support for the yellow brick house of newmarket a hostel for women and children a recommendation went forward from the york county group to the provincial body that helped secure a financial contribution for the newmarket hostel on nov 4 at a membership meeting of york county women teachers association fwtao president mrs pat carson presented a cheque of 25000 to mrs
