softball team completed the most successful season in their history the team better known as the stouffville merchants became the south lake simcoe intermediate ladies softball champions as a first year member of the team i would like to take this opportunity to comment on im- leams mentioned above found it necessary to arrive at the park well in advance of the game in order to setup and repair the diamond coaches donated their time and expertise to coach and should not have to act as grounds keepers one incident that immediately comes to mind occurred during a bantam playoff game against cobourg it was necessary for two stouffville the anderson haulage clippers opened the 1980- 81 season with a warmup exhibition game against uxbridge on saturday evening competition for a place on the team was hot which resulted in a record even for the clippers 53 minutes in penalties everyone played hard and with some promising new blood coming in com bined with some seasoned veterans like rugelis raymer dix price and burrows the team could prove highly competitive this season the play itself was fast and furious with uxbridge picking up no less than five power play goals and winning the game 86 first period goals came from steve price and ken dix with newcomer luc gauthier and dave raymer givine the assists uxbridge matched the clipper tally with two of their own both teams traded a pair of goals in the second with the clippers tally coming from price and rugelis the assists went to kelly burrows ken dix and another new face gary curts uxbridge went ahead with four power play goals in the final period despite a shorthanded goal by joe twinney from kelly burrows and a power play goal by ken dix from rugelis and price whitchurch stouffvilles experience tennis program my opinion is financial support it is my un derstanding that in 1979 stouffvilles chamber of commerce was- ap proached and indicated it would bewiiling jo their assistance allowed the coaches to return to the game which was already in progress i believe that coaches time could be better used motivating and developing players skills than lining diamonds 1 haye appreciated sponsor the intermediate t opportunity to be team thus we are ass0 with teams of called the stouffville merchants a more appropriate team name would be dunkelds devils of something to that effect as it was head coach cliff dunkeld who paid for the uniforms and equipment since that initial outlay of funds up- dating and additions nave been handled by players and coaches a n o t h e r which the town- of
