of the community bid farewell to john and helen baatz childrens aid short of funds york region york region will have to give the childrens aid society an extra 30000 this year unless it can persuade the province to pick up the tab bill crothers the societys chairman said he told the regions health and social services committee the society is going to be 15000 over budget this year as the result of taking care of children who used to be placed with other agencies the childrens aid society is financed by the provincial ministry of community and social services and the region the committee passed a recom mendation asking the ministry to pay 100 per cent of the deficit since the overexpenditure was approved by the province in the first place crothers said york durham and peel regions are the only areas in the province with growing populations this means york region can expect an increasing number of children with problems we project were going to have more problem kids he said it will peak in 1983 or 1984 he said he expects the province will increase the societys budget with the deficit but questioned how sympathetic the province would be to paying 100 per cent of the 1 cost ivan
