willow springs camp summer paradise the tribune thursday june 12 1ss0 u lemonville hundreds of local and not so local young people will share a spiritual and recreational experience this summer through involvement in an organized youth program at willow springs camp bethesda sideroad near lemonville willow springs operated by dick and shirley ohlman will host more than 400 boys and girls ranging in age from six to fifteen they will be divided into primary junior and senior age groups staying at the site during specified times the majority will live in a dormitory at the camps barn complex or in cabins a few will at tend only during the day while the youth program doesnt begin until the seniors arrive june 29 the propertys already open to the public for church related ac tivities the camp comes under the sponsorship of the canadian sunday school mission activities include boating swimming archery volleyball basketball handcrafts and funfilled carapfires theres a gymnasium in the barns upper floor a tack shop and a beautiful springfed pond an important part of the program is the chapel held twice each day this says mr ohlman combined with athletics enables us to send the young people home stronger in spirit body and soul in a cooperative venture with the missionary church in stouffville about one hundred young people will participate in a day- camp from aug 11 to 15 during the last two weeks in july willow springs will host a group of inter city children in con junction with the toronto fresh air fund the camp has a staff of thirty many from the stouffville area mr ohlman is the general manager and wife shirley his assistant shirley goertzer is the camp director arthur durkee is her assista the ratio is one counsellor for every eight campers
