responsible regar dless its a good time to start as many of winters extra curricular activities are not yet underway the junior and senior boys basket ball squads have held their practices and are preparing for exhibition games coach nugent of the senior team says he has lots of height this year and is looking forward to an exciting season the grade 8 boys and girls volleyball teams are beginning their workouts in hopes of winning championships at all i three of their tour- naments this year for the first time the grade 8s will be competing in tournies against huron heights and sutton the junior teams are coached by students in the year 4 gym classes as part of their course study in athletic leadership looking back congratulations is extended to the senior girls basketball team who despite their 24- 23 loss to king city played superbly unfortunately they were unable to hoop that basket that separated them from victory hopefully the grade 9s will do as well as the juniors and seniors the contact sports including judo and wrestling are holding weekly practices as always christine green and nedene smith were running their hearts out last week rolling up 15 and 13 miles respectively the ski teanvms also making- plans for future practices and com petitions however for the timebeing all members can do is think snow in recent weeks many courses have taken students away from school in order to further their knowledge on events of interest outside the classroom such field trips have included a study of a local gravel pit a musical production and a visit to the royal ontario museum these trips are not just fun each student is handed an assignment sheet before boarding the bus it must be filled out in full following the excursion looking ahead municipal
