kevin age 17 dear mr thomas after being involved in girls hockey here in stouffville for the past four years since our humble beginning and now starting the fifth i was shocked at the cartoon in the oct 12 edition of the tribune what game has the cartoonist been watching to give the impression of rough play has your own daughter ever come home scraped bruised and with her clothes torn the league started as a fun thing and still is the cartoon in my s opinion was illtimed since earlier we had a lower than expected registration and a lack of participation thankfully we are now into another fun- filled season with more new recruits and most of the originals back we look forward to seeing more people at the arena sunday evenings to watch the games joanne beach editors note cartoons are also a fun thing the one published in the issue of oct 12 should be regarded in that light dude mark tranter with sixteen miles christine green fifteen miles and nedine smith thirteen miles so far this year students not in volved with interschool teams in order to give you an idea of sdsss love for football in the junior tournament held last week one hundred and forty year 1 and 2 students participated eagerly last week the junior boys soccer team met their roughest opposition yet a team combined of teachers and senior students even though they outclassed their opponents they failed to achieve victory- it seems lady luck was the key- to the senior teams success already there is an air of excitement filling the halls of sdss the occasion is none other than the return of max webster to our gym on friday october 27 as this band has finally made it to the big- times they have stated that this will be their last high school performance in southern ontario editors mail girls hockey good recreation dear sir a number of people have worked very hard during the last four years to establish girls hockey in stouffville the cartoon oct 12 in the tribune sure doesnt help these efforts i wish the cartoonist and anyone else who feels this way would drop down to the arena and see the girls in action lets not knock a sport that provides enjoyment recreation exercise and something to do on a sunday evening right now we dont have enough coaches managers referees or girls your cartoon sure isnt going to help the situation our girl has played hockey here for the past four years and weve yet to see her come home looking like the one in the picture a girl can be injured far worse on a 10speed bike than on the ice sunday evening theyre out there strictly for fun i repeat come out and see for yourself talk to the kids dont knock something you know nothing about doug rexgraham coach and referee editors note cartoons should never be taken seriously the element of exaggeration is meant for effect if you the executive and the players considered it in bad taste we apologize starts friday fri sat 700 900 pm sund thurs 8 pm f0s fo ilarklam so revision of list of persons entitled to
