the tribune thursday october 12 1978 j mr and mrs lambert stouffer edward street stouffville were honored saturday evening at a reception in the friendship room of parkview home the occasion was their 50th wedding anniversary all members golden anniversary family circle is reunited of their family were present including two sons bert and allen and two daughters donna and erma they have 11 grand children jim thomas stouffville a friendship that began in public school and later blossomed into marriage reached an enviable milestone saturday when mr and mrs lambert stouffer celebrated their golden wedding anniversary the occasion described by mrs stouffer as a red letter day brought together family relatives for a reunion in the friendship room of parkview home present were their two sons bert of stouffville allen of antigonish nova scotia and two daughters donna mrs peter watson of barrie and erma mrs roy godber of renfrew they have 11 grandchildren lambert stouffer was born on what is commonly referred to as the lehman farm the son of abraham and emma stouffer he attended the old continuation school and later summitview he remembers well the fire that destroyed the original structure however he wasnt on hand to see it he was sick in bed with the measles mrs stouffer the former alma valentine comes from gclert ont in haliburton county her parents were eli and mary valentine she received much of her education here and later graduated as a teacher she taught one year at vivian and four years at colty corners north of unionville lambert and alma were married oct 5 1928 following a honeymoon trip to mrs stouffers home community they set up housekeeping in the farm residence now owned by dr and mrs don petrie northcast of the high school theyve lived in their present home immediately west fourteenyears both have played an active part in the life of the stouffville missionary church and sunday school in addition to teaching a bible class lambert was the congregations song leader many years alma still belongs to the churchs quilting group for mr stouffer involvement in the stouffville youth for christ was a most satisfying experience the leader in those days was rev norman rowan a gentleman they respect very highly no couple is better known or more highly represented than lam bert and alma stouffer dozens of anniversary cards and telegrams are proof of this fact in cluding messages from pime minister pierre trudeau governor- general jules leger and york north mp sinclair stevens mayor gordon ratchff of whitchurch- stouffville visited them personally and presented a framed plaque on behalf of the town mrs stouffer was especially appreciative of a card from a school friend she hadnt heard from in fiftyfive years mrs george dennis the
