goodwood man slam swing site with respect to an application for the re- zoning of 400 acres of agricultural land in uxbridge township to permit the operation of a gravel pit on the site robert mercer of rr 1 goodwood has written the following letter to the minister of agriculture hon william g newman it reads as follows as a constituent in your riding i am along with a growing number of other residents deeply concerned with the manner in which a local municipal council is ramming through a vast agricultural land rezoning change in order to accommodate the wishes of an aggregate producer before the deadline of municipal elections the conduct of the council is in question as is your own policy of preserving agricultural land in ontario as minister of agriculture and food we bring this matter to your attention as it is in the heart of your riding the rezoning change i question concerns 400 acres of prime land with an agricultural classification that is to be changed to an aggregate extraction designation for john b regan co ltd as citizens in your provincial riding we solicit your immediate assistance in persuading the minister in charge of inter governmental affairs to call a halt to the actions of uxbridge township council until a full study of the actions of council can be ac commodated as well as the views of the con cerned citizens listened to without prejudice we strongly request your immediate action as this disastrous agricultural en vironmental and social injustice will be con summated upon an un willing electorate if not halted by oct u 1978 ballantrae a petition calling for the relocation of a swing set recently erected in the felray subdivision park at ballantrae has been circulated among residents on iroquois drive and felcher boulevard a number have indicated opposition to the project at that particular site the community centre board installed the swings without prior consultation with local homeowners cliff glover 61 iroquois drive told the tribune mr glover and a neighbor john tardella stressed the fact they are not opposed to the swings being placed in the park but rather where they have been placed too dose to their backyards in addition to a noise problem the area is constantly littered with garbage they claim mr glover said the site contains dose to seven acres plenty of open space far removed from local homes he said iroquois drive owners paid a premium price for their properties because of the park and should therefore benefit from it a present the op posite is true be con duded fundraising dance appreciate
