wht wrihum thursday august 17 1978 the second section sports news- district news elegant autos front bygone era at museurrt at an antique and classic car show there are two things you do you look at old cars and you talk about old cars and at the whitchurch stouffville museum annual antique and classic car show held last sunday at bogarttown with over 50 old beauties present there was lots to look at and talk about those present with sportier cars talked about how they can still blow the doors off anything on the road with their classic buggies others tell of the ab solute steal they got when they bought their antique cars and still others discussed such esoteric points as whether it was the 1940 or 41 model that had a double chromed front bumper bill worden of gormely displayed his 1948 buick special that he had to dust off to restore interior and body mr worden recounted how he stumbled across the car which was for sale for 2000 while on a business trip to california you couldnt get the money out fast enough observed an admiring bystander no i haggled a bit allowed the smiling mr worden jim roberts pictured on the front page told the tribune the bow on the pierce hood ornament wasnt originally strung but that many people add the string mr roberts said this would cast points at a show and added he thought it was this kind of pickiness that spoiled the fun of shows ieddettbrb cruised up to the museum in his 1940 packard straight eight and said- thai far from feeling like a king in his grand automobile he in fact felt very- nervous everybody rubbernecks when they see this car he explained so i always have to drive defensively or somebody will cause an accident the car show keeps getting bigger and better every year this year the hungry and thirsty hordes wiped out every edible scrap from the concession booth ron robertson top left lounges in his 1950s hot rod a 1935 chevrolet master deluxe coupe with a mcgurk gmc truck engine the rod also features twin chromed horns that can blow your socks off top right wj wood of uxbridge poses regally behind the wheel of this 1933 pierce arrow mr wood owns a number of antiques which can usually be seen at the uxbridge steam threshing show in the fall at left randy hyndman of unionville chats it up with friend ken dilley of gormley who is sitting in his fathers 1931 chevrolet roadster bottom left ian fairbairn of aurora found himself a shady spot to lean against a tree and watch the activities mr fairbairn had several steam engines entered in the show bottom right george dike far right explains the finer points of the 1921 model t ford one ton truck owned by his friend harold longhurst not present of mount albert behind the group is a 1931 model aa ford truck also owned by mr longhurst john montgomery
