recruits to ensure safety on slopes contrary to what skiers might believe the canadian ski patrol system often experiences difficulty in attracting recruits to its ranks with a yearly tur nover of nearly 30 per cent of its membership the patrol offers many exciting postings for firstyear patrollers often in ski areas throughout ontario where they now ski this years recruiting program is aimed at both the downhill and the cross country patroller new recruits are required to attend specially formulated first aid courses each fall and are instructed in safety procedures known to be amongst the best in the world the canadian ski patrol system is fully recognized by the federal government and is one of only three officially recognized first aid bodies in the country new recruits should be fairly proficient skiers of at least a general intermediate ability and be dedicated in their desire to encourage safety in the sport the patrol will recognize applicants from 16years of age right up and do everything it can to place recruits where they might like to patrol as a downhill or crosscountry patroller for recruiting in formation call the cen tral zone office at 497- 9200 starts friday
