musically inclined teacher met with 11 girls to form a vocal music workshop together they concentrated on three specific pieces of music hoping to present them to r remainder of the student body at a future assembly this workshop was also to prepare for the vocal music program being offered next year students who were behind in their wood- working- projects whether it was assem bling or adding the for the four bus loads of students who participated for once the teachers and students were learning at the same level flat on their backs the ski trip to blue mountain was the activity that received the best response and the party consisted of ap proximately 160 skiers ranging from beginners to experts this was the perfect opportunity for first timers to receive instruction and to rent equipment for a very reasonable fee the art and theatre trip was a success and yet it did not turn out as was planned the students toured the art gallery of ontario visited chinatown or mac- donalds for lunch and then were disappointed to find that the wiz to be shown at the royal alexander theatre was cancelled due to a power failure the group split up to either visit the eatons centre or the cn tower for animal lovers there were two separate excursions horseback riding at the wagonwheel ranch at musselmans lake and a trip to the metro zoo photography enthusiasts and cross country skiers also ventured to the zoo the activities were numerous and yet they all held something in common the encouraged student to student relationships as well as student to teacher relationships and exposed participants to educational situations that many had not been aware existed the stouffville souses of the uxbridge mens basketball league took on the brock generals last week and junior games the junior farmer provincial games were held over the last few weeks and even though york county made it into two finals they failed to come away with any top honours york made it to the semifinals in the mixed volleyball competitions but lost out to the even tual winning team from bruce county york did make it into the finals in both mens curling and ladies bad minton unfortunately the men lost out to bruce county and the women were defeated by waterloo competing for york in mens curling were doug johnson and grant smockum both from the sharon club ken ferguson from the unionville club and norm mckay from simcoe in ladies badminton york was represented by donna redford from the vellour club and dawn schell from unionville club came away with an easy 5332 victory jon nigh was the star of the game hitting for 14 points and showing good rebounding ability and aggressive playmaking jim fletcher also had 14 points on some ex cellent outside shooting other scorers were randy barber with eight don
