they both won one game the first game in stouffville last friday night saw the stouffville credit union team play one of their best two way efforts their strong work resulted in a 6 2 win over markham who could not handle stouffvilles furious fore and back checking the peewees took advantage of all their scoring opportunities and had numerous three on two rushes stephen small led the team with a three goal hat trick luigi tesoro followed closely behind with his two goals and one assist the other goal went to rob boudreau other assists went to mike anderson scott sutherland and mike wilkinson with two and reid forrester with a single wayne stevens and rick stewart both played strong in the nets with rick coming up with a number of great glove saves the following night in markham the credit union boys played no where near as well and lost a 5 3 decision for the first time in a long time the peewee defence made a few glaring errors that resulted in markham goals the large ice surface in newmarch got ski fans buzzing with a superb achievement that netted him a silver medal in the event sponsored by molsons to encourage the national ski team then jim brazier whisked through the torturous slalom course to achieve another silver medal hopes for a clean sweep by the society soared when bob lewis hampered by an aching right wrist age and an illfitting ski jacket flashed through the gates just one hundredth of a secondslower than jim this superb achievement was rewarded with a bronze medal gord ness despite being impeded by two large barnyard animals which wandered onto the course called upon his natural abilities and won a bronze medal with a time just three tenths of a second out of the silver category john griffith and john baatz handicapped by racing against each other and ski equipment which is to be donated to the royal ontario museum blew across the line for two more bronze medals rookie len green wood perhaps the finest skier in the block between obrien and mill st unfortunately caught a trip and was unable to finish although fellow rookie brian weir an import from orono salvaged the day with another bronze medal run the society toasts itself on a fine weekend of skiing and has high hopes that next years molstar outing will net seven gold medals and another bronze for bob lewis town bantams take squeaker the towns bantam b team ended the regular season on a winning note last saturday by taking a 51 victory over bowmanville the game was won in the final minutes on a goal by allin lewis down 31 at the end of the second- period the bantam squad twice came back from two goal deficits to lie and ultimately win other goals went to howie underwood with two darryl paxton and dave pearce with singles molstar skiing this sunday jan 29 is the date for the molstar gold challenge cup of skiing at the dagmar ski resort the challenge cup is an exciting new addition to the molstar program which win see racing competition between teams male and female representing the par ticipating molstar areas in an exhibition game last monday the bs tied markham 22 the team received excellent goaltending from brad hogg and led the game 20 on goals by jack postma and mike hazdl however markham came back in the third period and put in the goal that tied the game with less than three minutes to play with a deafening roar the racers blast off at the starting line daring the snowmobile events held at the markham fairgrounds last weekend snowmobile en thusiasts came from all over ontario to take meet larry van dyke of stouffville was one boys who finished first in his clats part in the of the local kingston team and the club from toronto but did not play well against the others the squad from ottawa was the eventual champion defeating kingston in the final other teams came from guelph dundas brampton and st thomas the team plays out of the uxbridge curling club foxhunter riders at pickering several pupils from foxhunter equestrian centre stouffville took their horses to pickering on sunday to show at cedarcroft riding centre deanne howard of stouffville on her grey arab flash sir ran won the green jumper class and the working hunter under saddle as well as bringing home 11 other ribbons she was also the reserve show champion donna charron on foxhunters pony figil won two hunter classes and was jumper champion of the show donnas sister janet won 12 ribbons on her arab rinz doll several other foxhunter pupils at tended a clinic given by the worlds foremost jumper rider rodney jenkins foxhunter is holding its next horse
