first game played last friday saw the peewees play ux- bridge in a dose exciting match the stouffville boys came into the game a little overconfident and were also hampered by the bad bounces of the puck however the team led uxbridge for most of the game and it was not until the final few seconds that uxbridge tied it up they got the tie after pulling their goalie for an extra man something that doesnt happen too often stouffville goals were scored by rob boudreau from luigi tesoro and richard english mike wilkinson from stephen small in the third put stouffville ahead 21 but then uxbridge came back for the tie the following night in bowmanville the peewees came up with one of their best all around games of the year clobbering bowmanville 71 throughout the last two months the defen- cemen have been the backbone of the team and this g was no exception every defenceman played strong two way games and limited bowmanville to just nine shots on goal bowmanville did not get any shots on net in the first period their defensive strength is shown by their record in the last 10 games the peewees have allowed just 10 goals during that span and ha ve lost just one game in the last 12 can truly be called a success the skaters participating show marked improvement in skating skills which by all accounts is obvious in their hockey games the results of the final timing of the skaters from the goal line to centre line show that four seconds is a possible achievement in the 58 year old group and very difficult indeed to break for the 9 years and over group no one in the older group managed to break the four second time but many did achieve this time other areas of noticeable improvement in time and skill were corners turns and en durance the crosscut exercises both forwards backwards and in both directions really move now turning forwards to backwards and vice versa is being done far more easily and faster increased endurance was obvious as the 30 second rest periods needed after some of the exercises were dropped midway through the session the steady overall attendance of the skaters is jndicativenyofen- joymerit challengerand not to be forgotten parental support stouffville power skating is looking for ward to another 10 week session beginning january 8 1978 the fee is 30 the skaters wear full hockey gear and is open to both boys and girls the program will
