ac cident which took the life of their son randy last saturday morning july 2 with him was bob mayne who was also killed instantly the boys were on randys motor bike and going towards claremont on the long curve of the brock road south of uxbridge when the bike went out of control the accident was even sadder since randy had just celebrated his 18th birthday on june 30th it is a terrible loss to his parents and his i two brothers he has left behind a tragic void which will be sadly remembered bob maynes parents live in toronto but was boarding in the village at the time of his death our sincere sympathy goes also to his parents in their great loss another fine friend has passed jim peddie who lived in claremont for many years died in oshawa hospital last week our deepest sympathy to mrs peddie and his two sons vvillard and fred a former clerk of pickering township lloyd johnston whose offices were in the old brougham municipal building and lived in his lovely home in brougham was well known in claremont he died last week in recent years he made his home in whitevale our sym pathy is with mrs johnston and his family in their sad bereavement a farewell party for mr and mrs eugene heck and family was held mrs don holloway of claremont on saturday afternoon june 26 their many friends and neigh bors on the 10th sidetcad of uxbridge were in attendance at the bar becue pot luck supper a farewell white cake decorated with yellow roses centered the table mrs holloway presented mr and mrs heck with a canadausa friendship book titled between friends the popular heck family will be missed by their many friends many pictures were taken for mementoes of friends at the party which they will remember when the hecks are in their new home mr and mrs bill nicholson of truro ns formerly of stouffville are staying with mr and mrs george ingram in stouffville to take in some of the centennial before leaving for home they will visit with mr and mrs tom hammond and friends and relatives sunday of last week mr and mrs wj briggs had several of their family visiting them on the weekend with them were their daughter and soninlaw mr and mrs jack winterburn of bramalea grad- daughter mrs vince kimibblick with her husband and daughter candy of bramalea their niece mrs margaret caldwell of thunder bay and the briggs son tom and his wife may from scarboro uxbridge council has granted the claremont lions permission to hold a beer fest at the claremont community park on july 23 ringwood news birthday party and wedding shower held ringwood the joseph fockler family attended the 88th birth- day- party for mrs harry preston held at the home of her son clarence of cedar valley at the same time a wedding shower was held for doug cook and his bride jloxanne nibitt of thornhill miss doris nesbitt a missionary is home on furlough from niamey niger she was the guest speaker and presented slides at the ce missionary meeting on wed june 29 mr and mrs nor man bridgeman of niagara falls mrs harry preston and mr and mrs harvey preston of rr 3 newmarket were the sunday dinner guests of mr and mrs joseph fockler mr and mrs russell- smith have returned from a trip to the west coastt a excelsior class ladies met at the home of mrs fred jemmett stouffer st stouffville on tuesday afternoon pauline hirsch of lemonville was guest speaker congratulations to lome morgason whose float centennial seniors won first prize g in the homecoming parade and to linda vague who won fourth prize with her two goats in the pet show category for unusual pets in the church service we joined stouffville centennial celebrations by wearing suitable costume and singing the centennial song graduation exercises at goodwood school rwjms sslsw graduation exercises were held at goodwood school on thursday june 23 for the grade 6 students from goodwood and webb schools the ceremony was followed by a dance below are listed the pupils who will be going to joseph gould in the fall tracey vanmaurik and jill watson cj mrs tompkins presented her english proficiency award to nancy nesbitt ty track and field trophies were awarded to the winners of 4 dif ferent age groups midget boys glen phillips midget girls lisa redshaw junior boys mark knapp junior girls tammy duke in termediate boys george micallef iif- termediate girls sherri jones senior boys steven harper senior girls sandra norris the highlight of the sports presentation came when the best athlete trophies were presented to mark knapp and jannine ferguson yr police auction sale newmarket the york regional police commission will soon be holding another auction sale to dispose of an accumulation of found and abandoned property scheduled for july 23rd at the no 2 district headquarters in rich mond hill the
