homecoming weekend the weekends activities expected to be the highlight of the centenial year begin friday july 1 and conclude sunday july 3 publicity committee chairman dr bill murphy is convinced as many as 20000 people could be on hand throughout the weekend councillor june button a centennial committee member says there is no way of knowing in advance but she feels con fident that at least 10000 visitors will show v mrs button said that but of about 5000 invitations sent to former residents and students about 2000 replied she termed ithis a remarkable response especially as only about a awarded stouffville the contract for construction of an addition to summitview public school was awarded to model builders aurora ltd on monday night york county board of education awarded the contract on the recommendation of staff the bid submitted by model builders was for 316878 ap proximately 20000 over the amount budgeted for the con struction contract board of education staff suggested that if the price is not acceptable then deletions might be negotiated with the con tractor it is hoped the ministry will accept the full figure two other construction firms gerrits construction co ltd and berkim construction co ltd submitted lower bids 249642 and- 298000 respec tively but both firms stated they had made sizable errors in their bids and asked that the tenders be withdrawn model builders have no contractual agreement with the toronto building and con struction trades council and so may engage nonunion sub- contractors word on the addition to include a multiple purpose room gymnasium auditorium and lunch room and resource centre is expected to begin this summer estimated cost of the work is 312354 which is the amount now approved for legislative grant the addition first appeared on the school board capital expenditure list in 1972 but was repeatedly shunted to a lower priority position to protest overcrowding and lack of fireproofing parents pulled
