thursday december 24 1970 the tribune page 3 faces aglow for claremont community concert tragedy not forgotten by jim thomas claremont for two wonderful hours saturday broad smiles and laughing faces replaced the shadows of sadness and sorrow that had hung over the claremont community for a week but there wasnt a parent in the audience or a pupil on the platform who wasnt conscious of two children among the missing for the prechristmas show dwayne and marlene white victims in a tragic house fire seven days before would have been there smiling and laughing too but life must go on and so did the show one of the best in nine years while the talent was varied and all excellent the success of the program was due mainly to the master of ceremonies mr al ward principal of claremont public school not only did he keep the concert rolling smoothly but he displayed a previously hidden vocal talent that received en thusiastic response while it is possibly unfair to select one number over another i personally enjoyed the vocal duets by faye norton and doc brown the coco nuts from hawaii featuring jean martin doris hopkins jessie burrows marge samarillo helen pascoe joe derusha rene rennie and aggie ferguson terri pilkeys irish jig and the claremont public school choir those were my favorites the audience had theirs from their applause however it was ob vious they enjoyed it all mayor reports vocal and instrumental talent from the community featured the 9th annual childrens christmas concert in the claremont hall saturday two of the participants were faye norton and doc brown jas
