and sarah ogden a native of but- tonville in markham township a veteran of world war 1 he enlisted at 19 with the 220 battalion of stouffville later serving in france with the 48th highlanders the wellknown property a christmas tree farm is a floral beauty spot and mr ogden gives his wife the full credit she has the green thumb around here he said mrs ogden is also pretty handy in the kitchen as proved by the beautiful anniversary cake that graced the dining room table they were the the tribune joins with others in the community to wish both mr and mrs ogden many more years of health and opening is planned and it is hoped former teachers and students can be contacted so they may attend these ceremonies the museum board was formed in 1969 but was limited in its activities until all legal formalities were settled a deed to the property has now been received the purpose of the museum is to collect preserve study and exhibit those objects that will serve to illustrate the story of man and nature in york county the main interest however is in the history of whitchurch township the museum will collect artifacts that depict the countrys past in terms of natural resources set tlement education cultural achievement agriculture lumbering and manufacturing the museum will provide for the presentation of such material and make it available to all persons who wish to see it the board chairman for 1970 is c wesley brillinger the secretary mrs jean vannostrand vicepresident henry nauta and members betty vannostrand and merlyn baiter the research committee includes mr ernstzen
