service was conducted from the oneill funeral chapel this wednesday for martha melinda lehman wife of howard clarence lehman of delhi who passed away on sunday july 26 deceased was a daughter of the late david lehman and elizabeth snider and was born in pickering township she was in her 88th year she had spent most of her life in stouffville moving to delhi in 1964 besides her husband mrs lehman is survived by a foster daughter mrs jos housser a step daughter mrs george adam and a stepson wilfred lehman interment was made at the wideman cemetery family living and you your family life centre this column inauguarates a new and regular contact by the family life centre with the residents of markhamstouffville and surrounding communities it hopefully will increase the un derstanding of our work and goals and readers are encouraged to send in questions or comments the family life centre was setup as a com munity service january 1 1968 those now involved in the support of the centre include churches service clubs sororities schools other social agencies and the town of markham the board of directors is madeup of lay and ministerial representation from a variety of church denominations lawyers councillors doctors businessmen and othersand the centre is in corporated under ontario regulations as a non profit organization the centre operates with two main purposes 1 counselling to help those with serious problems in their personal marital or family living 2 educational programs to help prevent crises and to help persons of all ages from teen agers through retirement to handle the many challenges of modern living among some of the innovations in our counselling program are family sessions to handle intrafamily difficulties a cotherapist approach where identification problems occur with some clients etc in our educational programs our approach will be to run smallgroup training programs which will reach interested persons on a moreintensive and longterm basis much of the success of such programs will depend upon good group leaders and special shortterm training coarses in group leadership and interaction are presently being organized for those persons who are interested our goal always remains the same to be approachable and involved with the people of this and neighboring communities staffing at the centre includes a fulltime executive director mario d bartoletti ma whose background includes dual training and experience in education and psychology other counsellors on staff also have broad training and experience in helping persons cope with the problems of living the family life centre operates five days a week plus two evenings a week in order to better serve the community residents the centre will remain open during the summer months as part of its newly authorized fulltime yearround service in the weeks to come this column will appear bimonthly as part of the ongoing educational program of the family life passed away in hospital on saturday july 25 she had been confined to hospital with a broken hip and previously had spent some time at green gables manor mrs swift was the widow of the late arthur swift who conducted a garage business here for many years mr swift who predeceased his wife twenty years ago enlisted in the army during world war 11 in stouffville later retiring to toronto mrs swift is the last of her family there survive two daughters edith mrs bill sanders stouffville joyce mrs john thuro don mills and a brother george toronto a son jack predeceased his mother two years ago
