held friday at cedar beach the goodwood team members were pro minent in the winners circle in addition to end ing the regular schedule in first place netminder tre vor clark was named the groups top goaltender bev faulkner also of goodwood was voted the most gentlemanly and wayne redshaw the top scorer he edged clare- monts dean evans by a single point incrowder ivan greer was selected the most valuable good wood downed coppins corners 53 gentleman bev fired three goals singles came from the sticks of wayne redshaw and ron may the snow flyers held their second series of snowmobile races in goodwood park sunday and from a spectator point of view the compe tition was a great im provement over the first set of races at the airport the weather was sunny and mild there was only a short wait between events and the crowd could watch each race from start to finish with no hills to block the view the contestants must have found the short track rather frustrating though most of the races were two laps around the park and time after time we saw obviously skilful racers work their way to ward the front after a bad start and then lose for the want of a few more yards of straightaway goodwoods chuck wat son won in the 12 years and under class debbie watson won the ladies race lee watson plowed her machine into the fence in that one but lee and debbie competed again in a race for both boys and girls ted todd didnt win a race this week but came in second a couple of times there is a trophy for the most points won in the season and ted is leading so far debbie is tied for second place rev thormin conducted the funeral of mr lewis brown of toronto from the united church satur day mr brown died in his 84th year he was a cousin of mr walt cooper and mrs findlay thomp son mr brown lived in
