first how do you feel the shortened version is how are you the sec ond what do you know it doesnt make much difference how you respond to the greetings an intelligent response was never intended in the first place incidentally which one do you use the most let me guess would it be ah how arc you today of course most people like that one because it is much more sophisticated than what do you know or what do you say another thing too the one you greet doesnt really need to give any factual information who cares what he knows how he feels is so much more important these days anyone would think that the society of people living today would want proof for everything but it isnt so its more like this dont confuse us with tlw facts let us blow up our balloons and build our sand castles and dont you dare burst those balloons with facts or dissolve those sand castles with rock reality we want to wear our dark glasses and insert our foolproof ear plugs we want to live like it or not we live in a real universe a world of population explosion hunger pain crime sorrow and finally death one way or an other into that kind of world we have been born and with it we must live everybody is looking for a way out let me out from behind these iron bars this prison house let me out this is their cry and why not i am only sorry to say that the one bright ray of hope for you and me has been shrouded by an influx of sophisticated eggheads whose hor rible explanation for life is one of sheer despair everything is empty there are no values no morality no right or wrong everything is relative the onlv meaning in life depends on how you feel if you feel all right about yourself and your world what difference that your great grandchildren will have standing room only on this planet 200 years from now live it here and now they say this kind of lsd world must be exploded the church of jesus christ can do it but a funny thing happened to many ministers on their way to the church the nylon net of humanism fell upon them as well by the time they reached the pulpits they were talking of the cross christ and god as mere symbols of some feel ing the people were supposed to acquire they acquired it all right now they feel comfortable in their pew dont ever ask them about the his toric facts of their faith that isnt important it doesnt matter whether jesus christ lived and died and rose again in actual fact the main thing is that they believe it anyway they feel it readers that nonsense has got to go the chris tian faith pulls back the curtain on the stage of the universe and god himself steps out to ex plain it that is a fact jesus christ did it now open your eyes and believe it mr otto tranmer mccormack memorial church vivian highway 48 at vivian rd pastor v g thomas bloomington it was back in 193s thirty- two years ago that mrs otto tranmer began writ ing the bloomington news column for the tribune those were the days of crank telephone the mul tiparty line and a mail carrier that travelled by horse and buggy after all this time mrs tranmer has decided to call it quits she has turn ed the chore over to her daughterinlaw norma i always found every one very cooperative she said but the com munity has changed so many of the people are strangers she noted that some properties had been sold two and three times while mrs tranmer made good use of the tele phone calling her neigh bors for news she admits picking up many items following sunday church service the tribune expresses its appreciation for a job done so long and so well with the senice still re tained within the same family circle one may be sure that mrs tranmer junior and senior will par ticipate in the project editors mail mis new houses never flawless lspluiais dear sir further to the article in the january 27th publica tion of the tribune might i say a word for the not too unhappy residents of the ponderosa subdivi sion we purchased our home in july of 1968 and watch ed with interest the build ing of it we moved in early in november of the same year and have been as satisfied as any new home owner with the con struction we had a list of minor complaints which in due time the builder remedied to our satisfac tion we readily admit it did take a lengthy period of time to accomplish this but to our understanding of other new home owners in a variety of subdivi- sionss this is not unique i believe the majority of the homes with serious problems and i sympa thize with their owners were constructed in the late fall or during the winter months this is perhaps one of the main reasons for twisted beams and heaving floors i do not condone the need of this happening but frozen and green wood does dry out and twist top grade kiln dried wood is at a premium in this vast country of ours and as we purchased a more econo mically priced home we can hardly expect top pro ducts or workmanship i sympathize too with the builder who has a huge list of subcontrac tors erecting his dwellings i am sure these same sub contractors are not going to rush to stouffville some distance from the city to correct every com plaint arising here as it is reported by the builder they will i am sure pro long the trip until there is a list sufficiently long to warrant a days work this situation cannot be held against the builder i for one plan to attend the coming meeting to support those who have serious grievances in the hope that all who are un happy might receive satis faction as we have with our home we have re cently had a leak develop over our front window which is aggravating to say the least i do rational ize this problem however with the fact that we have just come through an ex tremely cold then warm winter since we did not have this problem last year of course i would like to have this problem remedied if the roofing subcontractor can be found responsible for it much and all as i rea lize many home owners in the subdivision have serious problems with the construction i believe it only fair that it be stated that not everyone has ma jor defects nor is unhap py i truly feel that for the price we all paid in this subdivision we basic ally have a sound house please feel free to quote any or all of this letter mrs catherine joice 620 rupert avenue special music vivian an evening of special musical entertain ment is planned for the
