deputy- reeve lawrence hen nessey and rival repre sentatives of council and the industrial commis sion they went home disappointed for those same rivals who had in stigated and approved mr hennesseys dismis sal from the industrial committee either were not present or did not speak the deputyreeve had the platform to himself and he took full advantage of the oppor tunity in his address that lasted almost one hour mr hennessey made it quite clear that although he believed councils action to be wrong he did not desire re-instate- ment he said he wished only to tell his side of the story and clear his name in telling of his desire to obtain muchneeded industrial assessment in whitchurch mr hen nessey said that he had met personally with one company representative who expressed a desire v said that the cash deal on 55 acres was final ized with the property owner but he later learned that a member of the industrial com mission had recom mended to the purchas er that the transaction be terminated mr hen nessey declined to name names but informed his listeners that the fac tory had since moved to another municipality he said he was criticized for not bringing the matter to the regardless of the damage inflicted on him personally he would cuutinue to work closely with the reeve at coun ty council level in an effort to uphold the in terests of the electorate who had seen fit to place him in office although the public estimated at 150 per sons had come to hear mr hennesseys expla nation of his dismissal from the industrial com mission the deputy- reeve went much fur ther afield he said that as chair man of the police com mittee he had establish ed a maximum budget of s90000 he noted that while whitchurch was the last munici pality to settle with its police department the figure was maintained and supported by the attorney general he said that a special pro vincial committee had been established which could result in the amal gamation of some forces within york
