services of solicitors lawson and clark in an effort to postpone and per haps nullify the purchase of property within the village for use as a parkcttc and parking lot mr ward strongly opposed any decision by the trustee board that would result in the acquir ing of land from mrs e prettv of toronto for a price of 3500 he spoke at a meeting in the leg ion hall june 7 and threatened them to take leg al action to prevent the deal he is now advocating that a second meeting to be held in the community hall within ten days to reopen the discussion trustee chairman al roszell was not available for comment on this latest request solicitors acting for mr ward have already written to the council of the township of picker ing asking that another meeting be arranged mr ward charges that the showofhands vote on june 7 was not a rcpiescntativc opinion of the people in the village he claims that the date or location of the meeting was not properly adver tised in addition he holds a petition signed by 114 ratepayers that he says arc against the purchase of the land only about thirty persons were present at the gathering in the legion hall a majoritv vote of 7 to 1 favored the purchase of the property at that time chairman al roscll explained that surplus funds of more than 6000 were available in the trustee account to complete the transaction he said that when the police village
