held in memorial hall at the ontario college of agriculture guelph on april 8 in its fine cast are dave hawthorne clare- mont diane graham and carl wilson balsam and pat stell brooklin others who delighted the audience on friday evening were marjorie and betty anne hamilton of uxbridge richard and charles day and mrs noon of balsam and christina evans and bradley jake- man of claremont fred peddie was mc much credit goes to mrs l d almack of claremont who directed the play for the brooklin junior farmers at the social evening held by the group commit tee of the cubs and scouts in the their supper guest was miss patricia ryan of ux bridge last week bruce norton and bonnie norton spent a few days in napa- nee with mr and mrs joe campbell and family mr and mrs gordon benson were in blowing demon stration in the community hall and showed slides of the history of this ancient art several pieces blown during the evening as well as others previously blown were auctioned to the audience by dave watson of claremont the children who attended were particularly interest ed especially in the birds and small animals and pur chased several of the pieces this is one of the claremont the community centre board said this week only 165 was received in donations leaving an outstanding account of 20325 that must be cover ed by the committee the program may be with drawn next year lor raine mcleod and mrs dave ferguson five brownies will be enrolled and five will fly up to guides at a meeting to be held in the commu nity hall thursday even ing tonight at eight oclock it will also be the first cadet enrollment for guidcrs in training age 16 to 18 yearspat sander son will become a member of the 1st ontario provin cial cadet company and is one of the five girls in the scugog district to re ceive this honor mr and mrs ray hill darlcne dorcen david and dougie of colling- wood spent the easter week with his mother mrs loss hill the home of mrs jean rcdshaw was the scene of a recent party on the oc casion of mrs rene ren- nics birthday a lovely cake was made by mrs doug norton later the five hundred club girls enjoyed their weekly card game including mrs kay hayward mrs home of mr and mrs jack rennic in the even ing they all attended the dance at the legion holstein breeders of york county uxbridge one hundred holstein breeders completed a tour of herds in ontario county march 30 the tour started at 11 am with a visit to the herd of mr harold honey and son seagrave the honey herd was establish ed in 1929 and is one of the most outstanding in the county the second visit was to the farm of mr roy leask and son seagrave this is a fairly new herd estab lished in 1957 the third visit was made to the farm of mr robert jibb and sons blackwater although mr jibb has been breeding holsteins for some time in northumberland county he purchased a farm and moved to the blackwater area in 1966 all three herds are on record of performance and have achieved many high records of produc tion all three herds have also taken advantage of the grading service offer ed by the holstein friesian association of canada and have in their stables at the present time a great many animals that are graded good and very good these are also show herds several prizes have been won by cattle from these herds at the ontario black and white show the east central cham pionship
