opposition to the move if the recommendation is approved the council of 66 will be paid as follows reeve 1000 deputy- reeve 350 councillors 350 in addition each chairman of a standing committee on council will receive 200 at the present time the reeve receives 700 and the others 300 with no extra remuneration for posts of chairmen over 50 meetings deputyreeve ken laushway said that in the past year ex cluding sessions of county council he had attended 50 meetings plus several other gatherings called for emergency reasons he said that during his tenure of office he had never missed a meeting except for reasons of ill health he dis agreed however in payment on a per meeting basis councillor vfjn parsons noted that the recommenda tions would not be approved until 1966 he felt that the fig ures were quite reasonable when facing an election very few councillors would have the gumption to do it he said councillor ken betz in opposing the motion said he was not concerned with the amount of township was called on to break no less than five tie votes at the regular meeting of the township council on monday prime bones of contention were bylaws to place the question of a twoyear term for council on this years election ballot and bylaws covering a question on sunday movies and sports in each case the bylaws passed with reeve hooper casting the tiebreaking vote councillor palmer said
