outlining plans for this event tell us we purpose by the assistance of our friends to furnish a 1 regular old fashioned christ mas dinner minus the eng lish plum pudding perhaps and as the little their ac companiments etc etc all hands come with well fdled klcighs hearts full of love to god and good will to man pockets laden with the need- fui and i am sure we shall haye agood time we purpose fo have a dining room 22 by 100 feet or upwards comfort able and well replenished i think we will have ample accommodation for all that may come it was a bitterly cold day but from the records we read it was the greatest feast of the kind we ever attended sev eral hundred must have par taken of the dinner speeches followed in the chapel in 1952 the church was moved back 30 feet from the road and a basement was built to enlarge the facilities in the past two j jars the frame building has been covered with aluminum sid ing on the outside and replaster- ed on the inside further im provements are photo report from parliament by michael starr mp parliament has been assured by the prime minister- that the ca nada pension plan resolution will be placed on the order paper before theehd of oc tober when it will be introduc ed for discussion is another matter- this present session is the longest in history and it is doubtful whether the resolution will be passed before tho end the year because of other mat ters to be considered by the end of october the government will again be forced to ask parliament for interim supply in order to pay its bills at the end of the month the reason for this action is the fact that the estimates of all de partments of the government have not yet been approved the passing of interim supply will take a few days because there are a number of matters that have to be aired by parliament some 53 matters have been dealt with by parliament since this session began in february of this year this of course does not include the time spent on many other routine and spe cial debates that were disposed of during this period in addition approximately three quarters of an hour is spent each day on the oral question period- the writ ten questions are dealt with twice a week but they only take a comparatively short period of time time is also a factor when ministers of the crown make long drawnout announcements on motions this announcement is usually followed by com ments from the leader of the opposition and the three leaders of the other parties in the house of commons dependlngon the importance of the announce ment the time consumed by the minister and the comments can be of fairly long duration when questioned in the house i of commons as to what the government expects to pass in the form of legislation before the end of the session the prime minister was unable to state ex actly what his intentions are this lack of a definite program leaves the house of commons in a qandary as to what lies ahead of them and what their goal is for this session conse quently this session may end tinue well on into the new year tinue well oninto the new year the report of the flag commit tee is due soon and evidently the government wishes to have tliis matter resolved before christmas the labour code has to be completed as well as the bill on redistribution the railway bill is a controversial one and could take some time to pass always in the background are the estimates of some twelve government- departments- that have to be dealt with if the government performs is likely that they may intro- is likely that theymay intro duce other measures and amend ments before this session ends in summary this represents a great deal of work and unless the government foregoes some of this legislation we willbe in session for a long time to that incapacitated him exa mination disclosed a rib dislocation it was not from pulling his shirt over his head it was because the muscles on the side from which he hurled the discus were so
