county council sit ting for the last time in the old county building last week de cided on the village of beaver ton as the site for the second ontario county home for the aged a special report made to council by the board of man agement of fairview lodge was adopted by council in a record ed vote which showed only three votes against the propos ed new site which was adopted by 36 votes the board informed council that they had inspected 14 sites in sunderland cannington and beaverton difficulty in obtaining water the high cost of rural electricity and the lack of a municipal wa ter storage tank for assured fire protection ruled out the sites in sunderland and cannington the board stated one 15acre site under con sideration in sunderland was directly across the road from the cemetery and the location of a home immediately across the road from a cemetery is not the most desirable setting the new site chosen by council is a 13acre parcel of land fronting on main street in the village the board gave as its reas ons for choosing the site it is within easy walking distance of the centre of town and lake simcoc and beaverton harbour are near by the board added that the beaverton hydro commission would supply power at a reas onable price and would install transformers and underground wiring at the site the village has an adequats water supply and the water sy stem is serviced by a 100000 gallon storage tank virtually ruling out the possibility of a lack of water in an emergency the pupils of the senior room of brougham public school ac companied by their teacher mr shipman and
