honeymoon trip in cutter in 1901 wmm mr and mrs geo french 1901 mr and mrs geo french 1954 on jan 30th 1901 newly- weds mr and mrs geo french left her parents home north of gormley and embarked on a fifty mile honeymoon trip by horse and cutter to the resid ence of a cousin mr walter conner of little britain that was 63 years ago this well- known and highly respected couple now live in a cozy up stairs apartment at the home of their daughter mrs roy nigh alma cone 6 markham twp they both enjoy good health mr french is 88 mrs french is 85 mrs french seated in her favourite rocking chair sews by the hour and her handiwork is passed on to sewing circles at heise hill and oak ridges in the form of beautiful quilts of various sizes and patterns mr french had little opportunity to attend public school but taught himself to read and write while his wife sews he reads and neither require glas ses born at sunderland mr french was born at sun derland the son of the late wm french and jane carr he had one brother and two sisters mrs french the former mary ethel sheffer was born near gormley the daughter of nic holas shcfier and annie con ner the two became friends when mr french was special visitor their 6jrd anniversary date on thursday of last week was highlighted by a visit from rev robt d guthrie pastor of bethel baptist church in or- illia mr and mrs french have been constant listeners to radio broadcasts over station cfor from the bethel church but had never met the minister in the afternoon he dropped in unan nounced and presented the cou ple with a beautiful basket of fruit on the wall of the apartment is a magnificent coloured por trait of mr and mrs french taken 63 years ago on another wall is a beautiful photo of a daughter clara marie who passed away at the age of only 2v years they are extremely proud of their only other dau ghter mrs roy nigh their eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren we have so much to be thankful for said mrs french the lord has been good to us move closer to having county planning help york county council is slow- y moving towards providing some type of county planning assistance having in mind those municipalities in the northern part of the county which have no planning boards however it was revealed at a special meeting of council this week that the cost will be consider able murray jones associates have already presented one re port which will cost the munic ipalities 5000 mr jones told the members that he estimated the cost of providing proper planning con sultant help would be 30000 a year reeve frank williams of whitchurch asked if this figure might not snowball shortly to 100000 mr jones replied that his figures were accurate and a county planner with the proper staff should not cost over the 30000 for this money they would be able to assist any mu nicipality with an official plan and zoning the planning boards presen tly in operation in the county would continue as
