tax rate for 1963 township council meeting on monday afternoon passed the rating bylaw for this year set ting out the various amounts to be raised as well as the varied public school rates this years taxes will be based on an assessment of 2522000 an increase of ap proximately 116000 over last years total figure the ontario county rate will be 114 mills to raise 3007687 slightly down from 1962 the township general purpose rate is almost identical with last year residents will pav a rate of 175 mills to raise 1106673 and industrial and commercial property will pay 21 mills to raise 6132613 the total amount of money required for high school purposes is 57953 27 of this amount 5092272 will be raised on a residential rate of 217 ui5 and 703054 will be raised on a commercial rate of 241 mills a of walter carter near alhm in picker ing township a short circuit in the water pressure system has been blamed for the loss both mr carter and his hired man frank rose were working in the stable when the electric shock dropped the two animals to the cement floor the owner loosened the chains from around the cows necks but their life was snuffed out in a matter of seconds none of the other milch
