the claremont un ion cemetery on sunday to commemorate memorial day rev cresswell conducted the service assisted by mr carnegie special music was provided by mr and mrs carnegie and the baptist church choir mr j coates gave a word of welcome and commented on the beauty of the cemetery grounds many people from toronto uxbridge scarboro brougham and other places attended the service the claremont pee wee and bantam teams are now playing softball in the pickering town ship league all claremont home games will be played in the park this year parents and interested baseball fans are ask ed to attend these games both a home and away to encourage these bov s the teams are being sponsored by the claremont recreation committee and are under the leadership of some very able coaches mr henry desjardins mr harold red- shaw mr al roszeu mr lloyd pugh mr bob madill and other volunteers new sweaters have been purchased through the kindness of some individual business men and the recrea tion committee redshaw on sunday and attended the decor ation day service at the ceme tery w a meeting the womans association met last thursday at lie home of mrs g gauslin mrs j peddie opened the meeting mrs t hammond read the scripture with mrs dean taking the top ic and prayer mrs pugh gave the report from the annual meeting of iiie oshawa presby tery mrs mcconnell read and commented on rudyard kip lings
