stouffville was organist and soloist mrs fred byer sang the lords prayer and a wedding pray er given in marriage by her fa ther the bride wore a gown of white lace over satin fitted bod ice and pearl and sequin em broidered full skirt of gathered tulle her fingertip illusion veil fell from a pear and sequin- beaded headdress her flowers were white pinnochio mums and red rosebuds and she wore pearl earrings and a pearl tear drop necklace the gift of the groom attending the bride were two sisters miss shirley lewis maid of honour and miss june lewis bridesmaid they were gowned alike in ballerina length gowns of aqua silk organza with lace trim and matching head dress they carried bouquets of yellow and white shasta mums flower girls karen slack of bowmanville cousin of the bride and mildred and administration staff of the toronto east gen eral hospital on her retirement from the hospital staff jean was presened with an orchid corsage and a silver rose bowl the 45th wedding anniver sary of mr and mrs edgar nigh was celebrated at mr and mrs norman oboyles cottage near goodwood those attend ing were mr and mrs john h nigh and family markham mr and mrs wiuiam g nigh and family markham mr and mrs carson wideman and fam ily markham mr and mrs harry wideman and glenn is lington mr and mrs lome wideman and family birch cliff mr and mrs clarence wideman unionville mr and mrs robert worrell islington and mrs w d wells of isling ton mr and mrs nigh were presented with several beautiful gifts groom for the wedding reception at the masonic hall stouffville mrs lewis received her guests wearing a gown of beige lace over taffeta with beige and green accessories and corsage of yellow roses she was assist ed by the grooms mother in a gown of blue lace over taffeta with blue and white accessories and a corsage of pink roses for travelling to points east the bride wore a mauve dress with white accessories and cor sage of yellow roses on their return the bride and groom will reside in their new home claremont rr 3 guests were present at the wedding from oshawa bow manville uxbridge st thomas and new toronto mrs t bvon park road s had the misfortune to sprain her ankle recently mr and mrs ross campbell of oshawa were visitors with her sister mrs ivan goudie and family market st miss ethel goudie who is now- making her home in preston is spending a few holidays with friends here mrs annie mackay of wind sor is spending a few days with her sisterinlaw mrs henry slack main st mr and mrs norman bank mrs bank and mrs walt white hac dinner with mr and mrs gord wsgg and girls on sunday on thursday evening a dou ble event took place in the form of chivaree parties the first stop was to serenade mr and mrs harold hodgson and from there to provide more music for mr and mrs clifton morris movioltes ciera club the moviettes had a reunion on tuesday june 14th in the form of a rowling party at markham bowling alleys with refreshments and the distribu tion of prizes at toms grill another gettogether is plan ned for july 19th before the regular fall and winter meet ings get under way four of the original moviettes were unable to be present for various rea sons and we missed their com pany but were happy to wel come six new movie camera fans to our midst the bowling party was most enjoyable it definitely proved that some of us should confine our activities to camera work however there were no handi caps granted they were impos ed because ro pins were set up in the gutters and so those of us who did the most blowing ended up with the lowest scores very resp high scores were made by dorothy mehaf- fey and doug ramer the con solation prizes were won by hil da and harry boerstra the win ning team prizes were awarded to ethel baker dorothy mehaf- fey dave rateliff and archie reid the low team i darent name them had so many ze ros they never did get warmed up the new- additions to the mov iettes at the bowling party were mr and mrs h boerstra mr and mrs g mann and mr and mrs j c mehaffey we will be very glad to welcome any other movie fans for our fall and win ter meetings and can assure you of many pleasant and prof itable evenings with the movi of her forth coming marriage fifty mem bers of the staff of toronto east general hospital attended the stouffville ioof are sponsoring the formation of a rebekah lodge in town any one interested in mrs mae nighswander this former stou ffville resident often thinks of her many friends and wishes to be remembered to them they will be glad to hear she is en joying good health again three pupils from the sum- mitview public school stouff ville received recognition last week for their entries in a do minionwide and crafts compe tition held in toronto beverley bourne and renee housser each received awards of 500 and gaye gibsons painting receiv ed honourable mention the lo cal project was promoted by- mrs ruth simmons kinder garten staff member their work has been placed on display at mrs tom brown and ruth arrived from fort pierce florida on saturday to spend a couple months holiday in on tario mr and mrs percy brillinger attended the 3sth annual foster warren reunion in pinafore park st thomas on saturday june istlf rev arthur walsh of the united missionary church and delegates mr clarence pipher and mr charlie atkinson left on monday to attend the annu al conference at kitchener which convened from june 20 to 22 karen barry and gregg tinv bers of mount albert spent the weekend with their grandpar- ents mr and mrs win tim bers of winona avenue while their parents mr and mrs rob ert timbers were in montreal stouffville cub pack and boy scout troop attended the stouff ville united church service on sunday morning and the flags of the two groups were dedicat ed during the service by rev douglas davis mr and mrs walter miller edward st accompanied mr orval burkholder to the cen tennial of greenwood school on saturday orval was a former pupil of greenwood school the aaron burkholder family had been residents there many years ago the stouffville tribune this week contains a multicolour advertising insert for the certo product of general foods con taining a number of recipes for berry time this is the first na tional colour advertising carried by this newspaper and is part of a steppedup campaign in the use of colour advertising two 41 passenger busses left stouffville on monday morning chartered by the local horticul tural society enroute to niag ara falls stopovers were made at hamilton rock gardens and gage park with dinner at qucenston and supper at the falls on the return trip a stop was made at the school of gard ening where roses and peonies were in full bloom w i meeting the regular meeting of the stouffville womens institute was held on thursday june 16 in their new rooms in the pub lic library basement mrs w smith the president was in charge rev d davis spoke on citizenship a topic our insti tute is very much interested in as our motto is for home and country the ladles are quite delighted with their new rooms and again say thankyou to the public library board once they get all the little fixing done we
