folks cant remember when the children were out so early in the season with skates skies and tobogans as we write this the snow shows no sign of melt ing and we are promised more of the same it seemed funny to listen to the radio election result last monday and know that due to the acclamation of the entire council there would be no men tion of markham township the opening of the new super market this week is greeted with mixed feelings with their large selection ample room and lower prices they make shopping easier although the larger selection sometimes maybe often induces us to spend more in the long run the new store however is bound to hurt the smaller gro ceries and for this we are sorry it is progress we know but for progress we sacrifice the personal touch and the friendly interest that is ever present in the small store and so lacking in the cold impersonal super market we havent heard anything so far to report on the mystery china we were shocked to hear that last friday warren leighton was badly burned on his face and hands when a stove in the sandwich truck blew up in front of eyes as he was waiting to be served fortunately his eyes were not damaged although his lashes and eyebrows were burn ed off it is expected that plas tic surgery will be required to repair the skin damage on be half of the village we wish him a speedy recovery and hope he will soon be home from the scarboro hospital bert roffey too is having trouble about a month ago he broke a bone in his hand and has had his hand the right one of course in a cast ever since we hope thats
