B. & referred to the general affection esteem in which Mrs. Simpson held by all and the generous a: ance and interest she ‘had always givâ€" en to the affairs of the Society. All were sincerely sorry to lase Mrs. Simpson, but all would wish her the very best, and live in hopes that she would yet return to Timmins. Mrs. Simpson was presented with a beautiâ€" ful gold wrist watch as a mark of the regard of the Caledonians and the wish of the members that she may alâ€" ways have the ‘‘best time."‘ The preâ€" sentation was a complete surprise to Mrs. Simpson who was fairly overâ€" eome by the wholeâ€"hearted demonstraâ€" tion that followed the presentation. During the evening the President also had occasion to voice the general sincere regret of the Society at the loss of another two valuablemembers, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Steele, who are moving to Montreal. For several months past Mr. and ‘Mrs. Steele have been popular members of the Society, winning many friends ‘here, all of whom are sorry to see them leaving this Camyp. ~£ E4 meeting until after the hot summer mouths,* and so was planned to be somethingâ€"special. .. It proved to hbe one of the very best yet. The attendâ€" ance was specially large, running over the hundred mark, and all present had a very enjoyable evening. The Seâ€" eretary, Mr. C. G. Pirie, had charge of the programme, and the Treasurer, Mr. W. On Thursday large numbers attended the display and demonstraâ€" tion and on Friday the attendance was still larger. The construction and various uses to which the Perfection Oil Stove is particularly adapted were efficiently demonstrated. More than one lady came away saying, "‘I never realized before the full value of a good oil stove."‘ On Friday afternoon the store was literally erowded,until closing time. During the afternoon the Ladies‘ Aid of the Presbyterian chureh served Afâ€" ternoon Tea in the store and this feaâ€" ture proved very popular. ‘The Ladies Aid also had homeâ€"baking for sale, the enviable reputation of the ladies for skill in cooking assuring a ready sale for all the samples offered. Finâ€" ancially, the ‘event also proved a sucâ€" cess for the Ladies Aid. AUDIENCES HERE DELIGHTED WITH THE QUINTILE TRIO ¢â€"The Quintile Trio appearing in the New Empire Theatre on Thursday evening of last week, under the ansâ€" pices of the Hockey Club, delighted all who heard these gifted musicians. Mr. Quintile proved to be a genius on the Harp, while the violinist and the ‘cello player were both equally cifted on their instruments. The programme consisted of instrumental trios and violin and ‘eello solos for which Mr. Quintile played the accompaniments on the harp.
