Senior Series. nas to win (tAis ; in the group at down with that cerned there are only four more games to play, two at home and twa away. Tonight Porenpine plays at the Falls and on Saturday at New Liskeard. The home games are:â€"Iroquois Falls here on Wednesday, Feb. 8th, and New Liskeard here on Tuesday, Feb. tae race for honours Daving won /( games, lost 1, and four to play, two with Poreupine and two with Liskeard home and home in each case. Liskeard has tied one game and lost 7, with four to play, two withâ€" Timâ€" mins ard two with the Falls, each home and home. The Poreupine team has won 4, tied one, lost 3, and hes four games to play, two with Liskeard and t\\'o\with the Falls, each home and home. To tie with Troquois Falls, the Porâ€" cupine team has to win every game in the schedule to be played. If the Poreupine loses any one of the four zames then this team is automatically out of the running. If the Poreupine team wins all the four games the, tie with Liskeard will have to be plaved the Falls only seore once, making it 3 to 2 in favour of Liskeard. In the third period Quesnell fied the seore for the Falls, but Thompson pift New iskeard ahead again. Liskeard, thus in the lead, trying ‘‘stalling‘‘ tactics, might have gotten away with the game, but Chircoski and Quesnell afâ€" ter some pretty combination work, slipped in the goal that tied. In the necessary owertime the visitors went at it desperately and slammed in three scores, thus winning the game. IJisâ€" keard‘s team is somewhat crippled or the result might have been different. The crowd at the game was the largest to get out at Taskeard this year and the Liskeard boys were very properily cheered for their good work. Quesnell and Fiuker are counted as the pick of the Falls team, with Brydge dnd Wilâ€" son making a heavy defence to pass. For Liskeard the stars were Spence and Thompson, both of whom, howâ€" ever, got a rather rough passage from the beavyweights on the Paper Tows teath. ire going over Iroquois Falls is n e race for honou miIinat to C127 be. w well abead in s chavinge won T THE PORCUPINE ADVANCE two, whi making _ on tae 5 will have Porcupine $50.00 CUP FOR HIGH SCHOOL HOCKEY LEAGUE COMPETITION WThe Curtis Drug Co. has generously donated a very handsome silver eup for competition in this district in the redently formed High School Hockey Leagnue. GRAND EUCHRE PARTY AT SCHUMACHEER, THURSDAY, 9th. en e Ing ol nexit wees, PC0, Jin, COmImeLicâ€" ing at 8 p.mn. About three months ago the Ladies of the R. C. Church at Schumacher held a Euchre Party that was a very striking success in every way, and the event on February Oth. promises to ‘be even more pleasing. For a firstâ€"class pleasant evening of cards and other social pleasures no one should miss the Grand Euchre Party in the Melntyre Hall, Schuâ€" macker, on Thursday evening, Feb. 9th. At present it looks as if Iroquois Falls was fated this vear to win all championships in hoâ€" ckey,â€"Senior, Intermediates, Junior, Ladies and High School League. Of course, they wiq none of them until the season is completed and you can never fell. But in all the different leagires the Falls has a nice lead now and everything goes nicely with the Paper Town players. Oh, well, the Falls deserves to win one year, anyâ€" how, for they have in past years takâ€" en defeats in the right sort of spirit and always staged a good ‘‘comeâ€" back.‘" But the Senior N.O0.H.A. is one chaimpionship the® must expect to put up a desperate fight for, and likely lose it at that in the end. In the Junior series the Falls have a dandy team of husky fellows who show up well and evidence the effect of good coaching. The team has it all over the FTimmins team in the matter of weight and though Timmins put up If the Ontario Government had look ed properly at the power question some months ago, a great part of the uremployment would mave been reâ€" lieved ere this time. Even now, someâ€" thing may be done by the Government to help matters along. It seems now to be decidedly up to the Government. _ The Citizens‘ Unemployment Comâ€" mittee of North Bay has forwarded the following resolution to Hon. E. C, Drury, Premier of Ontario, urging inmediate attention and action in the matter. The petition reads as folâ€" lows :â€" a very hard battle in the last match here the locals were outclassed by the visitors. However, the victory is never complete until the season is over, and the season is only half elose now. Timmins Juniors have only to win the next two games to tie with the Falls. In any case the Falls will bave to work for the Junior chamâ€" pionship. WANT CHANGE IN T. & N. 0. RY.
