MHoltyre Girl Injured An accident oceurred on the Holâ€" tvre Road about a quarter of a mile from Holtyre, Saturday May 22nd about 7.15 pm. when a taxi driver Simon Leduec of Ramore ran into and injured Marianne Lalonde, 8 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. Lalonde who lived nearby. Marianne and her younger brother Paul were playing with a small wagon on the road, as *the car approached Marianne darted across the road and directly into the path of the car. The child was carâ€" ried to her home where Dr. Crann of Holtyre was called and had the child removed to the Kirkland Lake Hosâ€" pital where she is found to be sufferâ€" ing from bruises and shock. Accordâ€" ing to Constable Jerry Lynch, who investigated the accident, no charge would be laid as the driver did everyâ€" ihing possible to avoid the accident. At the time Mr. Jos. Theriault of Raâ€" more was a passenger in the taxi. Bernice Herron of Matheson spent several days visiting in Kitchener and while there: attended sister Margaret‘s wedding. The Anthony Social Club held their annual meeting at the hall last week and election of officers for the ensuâ€" ing year resulted as follows: President, Fred Levecque, Vice President, O. E. Drew Visits Matheson. Premier George Drew, Mrs. Drow and Mr. Percy Boycee spoke briefly at one of the quickest organized meeiâ€" ings possible which was held in the Oddfellows Hall, Matheson, Tuesday afternoon last. The meeting was orâ€" ganized in about two hours and the speeches lasted half an hour.> The Chairman, Robt. Potter introâ€" duced the Premier who as Minister of Education spoke chiefly to the children. He was particularly glad to speak to the children. Mr. Drew said he had heard a great deal about Matheson from Mr. Potter although it was his first visit. As Minister of Education Mr. Drew proclaimed â€"a half day holiday Friday aflternoon, this undoubtedly will be appreciated. Mr. Boyce spoke briefly and said he was delighted to be able to attend such a fine gathering particularly the children from Matheson school and teaching staff. Anthony school children and teacher were also presâ€" Mrs. Helmer and family wish to exâ€" press their sincere thanks and apprecâ€" iation to their many neighbors, friends und relatives for their kind expresâ€" sion of sympathy and many â€" floral tributes extended to them during their recent sad bereavement in the loss of a dear husband and father. Weir Residents of Matheson and Shilingâ€" ton will have the pleasure of a visit from Mr. Perey Boyce, Progresaive Conservative Candidate for. South Cochrang riding at dances to be held in both places Friday the 28th of May. Everybody is welcome and a good crowd is "Anticipated, Mr. and. Mrs., John., Guertin of Raâ€" more will be leaving for the South at the end of this month after living here for nearly twenty years. During their stay at Ramore Mrs. Guertin has been Postmistress and in this capacâ€" ity she will be greatly missed. Mr. and Mrs, Guertin also ran a general more at Ramore for eight year. At the present time plans for the future are indefinite but for a while they will make their: home at North Bay. "This grand couple were guests of honor at a farewell party held at Raâ€" more recently at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rene Guertin their son and daughterâ€"inâ€"law. Here they were entertained with musc and songs, and after a farewell address, they were presented with a complete set of dishâ€" es as a parting gift. They will be greatly missed but the best of wishes were extended to them from their many friends atâ€" Ramore. The Progressive Conservative Party held an after Mass meeting at Raâ€" more Sunday last. The meeting was well attended guests speakers were Mr. Percy Boyce Candidate for South Cochrane riding, also Mr. Leo Charleâ€" bois of Timmins Who addressed the meeting in â€"~French. Robt Potter of Matheson also spake briefly as did Romeo Champaigne, Ramore. Matheson branch of the Women‘s Inâ€" stitute will hold theirâ€"next meeting Thursday June 3rd in the Courtroom. Boy Fatally Shot A young life was taken Friday May 21Ist, when Herman .Schultz living a feéew miles out of Matheson, was fatâ€" ally wounded by a shot accidently firâ€" ed by his brother Leo. It appears Herman walked between Leo and the target just at the moment the gun was fired. The bullet lodged in his chest. Me was rushed to Rosedale Memorial â€" Hospital â€"Matheson â€" but passed away shortly after admnttance Herman, and two of his brothers, Arthur, age 17, and Leo, 21 years, aâ€" long with two other local boys Philip Dreyer and Percy Lindsay, were working on the farm five miles from Matheson when the tradgedy occurâ€" red. Burial took place in Hillerest Cemetery Matheson. Funeral services were conducted Monday May 24th by the Reverend Father Ledue of Raâ€" more. In addition to his parents Mr. and Mrs. Albert Schultz, the deceased is survived by two sisters, Alathia of Port Arthur.and Mrs. Coughlin of Raâ€" more, four brothers Leo, Arthur and Lawrence of Matheson and Boyle of Timmins. It is not very long since the father Albert Schultz had the misfortune to break his wrist and had to have treatment at the hospital Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hill of Iroâ€" quois Falls visited friends at Matheâ€" son over the holiday weekâ€"end. Mr. and Mrs. H. Stevens of Matheâ€" son left Friday last for Southern Ontâ€" ario for the holiday.
