Bisons Take 5â€"3 Win From Dome Porkies In Wednesday‘s Hockey _ Beausiegle Stars With Three of Bison‘s Goals In Wellâ€" Plavead Game Iocal hockey fans attending the tilt on the Mcintyre cushion Wedâ€" nesday night saw the Ankerite Bisons send the Dome Porkies down to a 5 â€" 3 defeat in a fairly wellâ€"played game of hockey. â€" Don Beausiegle made off with three of the Bison tallies. Nastasiuck, Maki and Sicoli took one each of the Dome trio. The opening session failed to bring about any score, settling for three penâ€" alties. In the second frame, however, Ankerite rang up 4 to the Dome‘s 2. Another pair of scores flashed up on the markers in the deciding stanza, spelling out the Dome defeat with the score at 5 â€" 3. * Tomori, along with his bosom chum, Brownlee, was subjected to the hail of rubber and turned away the barrage in starring style. Three penalties, going to Capyk and Dunn of the Dome squad, and Patton of the Bisons marked the sheet for the time keepers. Six goals in all became the result of the fastâ€"moving second frame and only through continual refusal to smile on the part of lady luck, and the work of the netâ€"minder, was the scoring kept down to the six. | In the initial period the boys waited until around the tenâ€"minute mark to find their feet and settle down to the probpieim. The Porkies were the first to make the move in the form of an allâ€"out siege on the Bison basket but without pleasing the electrical wizard. Ankerite opened the scoring with the work of Shultz at 5.17 on assistance from Robinson and Clouthier. Dome retaliated almost immediately as Nasâ€" tasuick batted the disc in Bison mesh at 5.57 on an assist by Tallentino. Beausiegle, Morris and Hepworth then teamed up for the second Ankerite success at 842 with Beausiegle adminâ€" istering the coupe de grace. The most colorful of the Bison‘s tallies was the work of defenceman Roy Hawkey, who banged the biscuit in behind Tomorri at 19.59 after weaving his way through practically the whole Dome team. Beasiegie tmnen copped his second tally of the evening at 12.28 with the help of Barney Morris, Dome sweeping back for an honor at 15.30 with Maki scoring on an assist by Kosick. Penalties : were ‘noticeable by their absence. Both teams played their parts well in a heavyâ€"checking slightly on the rough side finale to a good gome. Dome knocked off their final tally at 11.37 with Sicoli doing the scoring on an assist from Tallentino and at 17.05 Beausiecle chalked up the fifth Bison tally and his third score for the night. Once again we dig into the ranks of the Bison‘s for a bouquel target and come up with a lad by name of Shultz. Wednesday was the first time yours truly had seen him in action, and besides scoring tne Bison‘s opening tally the gent in question played a good game. -Speakmg of scoimg and the like, we would like to mention Roy Hawkey. The singie tally chalked up was made in colortul style, and besiaqes tne score his efforts all through the game were commendabie. Axiotner éent worthy of a bouquet is ‘iamentino. At any time the gent plays good nockey and Wednesday evening was no exception. Next in line we find our bosom chum Wilbur McWelsner withn a total of six pinâ€"boys, one lamp, one badly damaged alley and a request to give up bowling. Our weekly visit to the bowling alley disclosed the fact tha roliâ€"off is being headed by gentlemen who are kncceking high scores indeed. Un top of tne neap is M. Sura with a tally of 1421. In second place we find G. Mitchell ,with 1407, and next in line is A. Sauve, w.th a total otf 1386. Hawkey turns in one of the better defensive games in practically all the times he has played, at times to the chagrin of tne offender, ‘The new board (quite colorful by the way) was presented to the Timmins Dazt League by the British Consol Co., along with a brand new score board. This freshly acquired board makes provision for two games being battled out at once. Said provision (we suppose) will relieve a little of the out at once. Said provision (we suppose) will relieve a little of the pressur‘e generally experienced afortimes. "Ah yes, Wilbur," the reconâ€" version period is on in more ways than one, dart tossers along with the needs and necessities connected with that worshipful sport . . . .. being n0 exception to the plan. ' During our turns arsund and about the town we took time out to drop down to the lower room of the Canadian Legion for a lcooksee into the darting proceedings and found two entnusiastic exponents of the art tczsing the feathered mussles at "ye pig bristle target" set up cn a brand new backâ€"board. n The article stated the Chelsea squad were a mite bewildered at the action but not so with Cardiff. Continuing the browsing in said lower roocm, we came across a news cutiing from one of the larger journals with an article and pictures conâ€" cerning the famed Russian soccer team the "Moscow Dynameos" (electric personalties. Seems the boys made a <winning sweep across "Merry Old England." The team trounced Cardiff 10â€"1, tied Chelsea 3â€"3 and topped Arsenal 4â€"3. Before tackling Chelsea the "Dynamos" presented the boys with a bouquet of each â€" Mmm, might mean "We‘re here to run your fame into a grave‘". â€" What! , Well cnyhoo from England the Dynamos went on up to Scotland to tangle with the famed Glasgow Rangers and held the Scotsmen to a 2 â€" 2 draw. Says in the article that tempers became very short at times. Well, the EKangers are looked on as one of the best of the country‘s teaims. That probably explains why tempers were as frayed as the "Scotch Mist".And to think corn is scarce. We would like to put forth the following idea in the hope of said idea matâ€" erializing into solid, livng form. The idea concerns the organizing of an interâ€" town basketball league or failng that a mercantile league or what have The Cardiff team were all set in regard chucking gifts around and about and presented the Russians with minature minet‘s lamps (an effort to throw some light on the subject no doubt. We are all for the introduction of such a league and believe it would be a great drawing card, one that would soon find a host of followers, Comments on the possibilities of such a league are welcome. We were pleased with what we saw . . ... Ivan McLlLelland is one ¢f those to be mentioned, along with Dusty Blair and Mr. Gecan. Froposed league should be organized to provide a sporting outlet for the many athletes whose predilections run to the speedy sport or those who excel solely in this particular game. Being subjected to a session of the snifflee and the "Ahâ€" â€" â€" choos" we were torced to spend the evening in bed and so missed the semor fixture between the Ankerite and Hollinger machines on Friday night. However, after upping the sales on killâ€"orâ€"cure remedes, employing use of all the hot water bottles on the block and without getting into "Christmas spirit" we were able to make our initial appearance at Juvenile tilts by attending the tangles on Saturday night. The inital tilt, battled out by the Air Cadets and the Canadiens, preâ€" sented fans with a fair calibre of play. Both teams hold good playing material and a little more practice to eliminate the rough edges on the style and cure the goal mouth fever will, we think, result in the squads settling down to a smoother style of hockey. The juvenile tangles are well worth the watching, believe us. Diminutive and most effective is the South Porcupine netâ€"minder (Mcâ€" Lelland) who turned in a great performance on behalf of his smart playing companions. On quite a few occasions the miniature basketâ€"sentinel made saves on the nearâ€"impossible and it was ncot until late in the final frame, after being injured, that his shutâ€"out was broken. "A bow and bouquet for the gzentleman, Wilbur". Dusty Blair and his bosom chum, Gecan, strode around the cushion in starring style with Grecan ringing up a trio of baskets and Blair chalkâ€" ing up a tally and a brace of assists. In time, the senior leagues or perhaps even leagues wading around in more distant fields stand chances of being flavoured with effective pucksters. Out of the two tangles presented to the sparce attendance the second between South Porcupine and the Timmins Lion‘s was the better. Sportsâ€"So W hat! OnNtTaRto ‘Third Period Scoring Brings Bison Victory Over Greenshirts Brownlee In Goal Stands Out For Ankerite Team Turting on the pressure in the third period, the Bisons downed the hoilinger Greenshirts 6â€"4 in the semor hockey game played at the McIniyre on Friday The Greenshirts had more than held their own in the earlier sessions and heid a definite edge from the "snotsâ€" onâ€"goal" argie, but they failed to hold off the lads from Buffaloâ€"Ankerite in the final session. The piay started off fast, but was marred by erratic passing. At the tourâ€"minute mark Cloutmer made a oneâ€"man rush, was shunted, into a corner, ard Allen came in fast down centre to seize the puck for the first seore, for ‘the Bisons. Ladds and Theriawt nearly did the trick again a little later. Alex Browniee, Bison â€" goallie, was the deciding factor in the game, Baker, Pettrucci and Pontello each had shots on the Bison net, but Brownâ€" lee handled them nicély. Near the halfâ€"way mark Hawkey‘s too entnusâ€" iastie â€" stickâ€"handlirng forced Mosâ€" carello out of the game, but the Holâ€" linger player got back the next per:od. The second period got a flying start when Lahti beat Omicolli at 1:55 and increased the B:‘son lead. The game roughened up a little and Brownles had his hands full in the Bison net Lo keep off the scorirg efforts of Gordon and Plioplis. Patton went to the beneci for tripping Gordon. Shortly after Patton‘s return, Baker took a shot through a maze of players scored A minute later Baker McKay m2ade a spectacular rush down the ice and caught Brownlee napping, to tie the score. Robinsor, the hardestâ€"working Bison on the ice put Ankérite in the lead again with a tally at 3:34, But Ladds and Lahti fought their way through to increase the Bison lead at 5:50. The game grew a litile ragged and the Bisons seemed to ‘keep most of the play, scoring again at 9:37 when Beauâ€" seigle took a pass from Larsen and Robinson and netted it. Morris closed up the score sheet with a tally at the 12â€"minute mark. Ankerite: goal, Brownlee; defence, Hawkey and Patton; centre, Moriis; wings, Lahti, Ladds; subs: Cloutheir, Allen Robinson, Larsen, Beauseig‘e, Hepworth. The game played in fastâ€"moving style saw South Porcupine miniature netâ€" minder Ivan McLelland, Gecan and wing man Dusty Blair provide fans with commendable efforts.
