The lad was crossing at the corner of Maple street and Fifth avenue when a car driven by E. Stapleton came along and the boy was struck by the car. Gaston was taken ‘to St. Marys hospital where it was found that his leg was fractured. He is making good progress to recovery but will not be out of the hospjtal for some days. After the accident, police laid a charge of dangerous driving aâ€" gainst the taxi driver, the claim being made that he had not been careful enâ€" ough at the corner. The case was reâ€" manded for a week when.it came up in court on Tuesday. It will likely be reâ€" manded again to allow opportunity for the injured lad to give his evidenee in regard to the accident. The accused driver is out on $1,000 property bail. A very interesting and enoyable afâ€" ternoon was spent by the Ladies‘® Auxiâ€" liary of the Canadian Legion at the anâ€" nual Zone Rally, on Sunday, with the Ladies‘ Auxiliary of South Porcupine and other Northern points. Then he discovered the wanted man had broken into the home of his broâ€" ther and: takert away a parka, a mackâ€" inaw coat and an overcoat. The search continued until the early hours of the morning with no trace of the man being found and the provinâ€" clals went home leaving the chief to continue the search. He secured the assistance of W. McRae, who acted as chief during his holidays and W. Fraâ€" boni, both members of the Fire Deâ€" partment and both special constables. They finally. saw their man â€" near the Square, and he took to his heels with McRae and Fraboni in hot pursuit while the chief went to the north end of the town to head the quarry off. The pursuers saw their man dart into a house, the door of which: was apen and when the chief camealong he went in, finally locating the wanted man hiding under a chesterfleld in a space about six inches high. He was taken to the police office and locked up. When questioned he admitted he had sold the car to an auto wrecking firm in Parry Sound, and the police of that town, when notified, later advised Chief Cote that Ladouceur was wanted, not only for car theft but forgery as well The clothing stolen in Cobalt was located in a local second hand store where the accused had disposed of it for $3. To climax the evening, a lovely pink and blue basket was brought in and »resented to the honouree, who opened her parcels amid oh‘s and ah‘s. Bhe received very beautiful gifts, ificluding linens, china, crystal, silver, etc. Following this a delicious lunch was served by Miss Lena Fopsley, Miss Lucy Lariviere, Miss Zemelia Ayoub, Mrs. A.
