Late Friday night or more probably early Saturday morning some person or persons made an abortive attempt to enter the Imperial Bank building. The culprits apparently took off the screen from the transom at the rear of the bank and then pushed in the window. The window frame was found on the floor so it is taken for granted that the culorit or culprits made it fall, and the chances are that the noise of the fall frightened away the thief or thieves or whatever they were. In any event actual entry to the premises was not made, to judge from appearances. It did not appear to be the work of any one skilled at the work of breaking and entering, and in addition it would seem that the culprit or culprits would have been unable to secure anything of valuo had they succeeded in gaining entry, as all valuables are kept in the vault which is in full view from the street with a light in evidence at all times in the night.
