The funeral of Martin Hassett, aged 69 years, was held on Wednesday mornâ€" ing from the Catholic Church, with Father Lasalle conducting the service. Interment was made in Tisdale cemeâ€" tery. The late Mr. Hassett died after a short illness, on Monday night, in Porâ€" cupine General hospital, of pneumor}_ia. He was a wellâ€" known figure in the North, having resided in Cobalt in 1904 and 1905. A carpenter and mechanic, he helped build the headframes on the earliest mines in Cobalt. He left Coâ€" balt for Sudbury in 1919 and was beâ€" reaved of his wife in town in 1921. In 1923 he came to the Porcupine Camp and was employed for some years at the Coniaurum Mine. In 1940 he found employment at the Hoyle, Brouâ€" lan and Bonetal Mines. His one daughter lives in S. Porcuâ€" pine, Mrs. O. Dacre, and he leaves two gra ndchlldl en. One brother, Fred, of and a sister also of Cobalt, were present at the funeral. Pallbearers on Wednesday were old friends of deceasedâ€"Messrs Fr. Furlong, Jos.
