Trowbridge, will leave soon to take up residence in the south. Mrs. Trowâ€" bridge has been the club‘s programme convener, and has done her work offiâ€" ciently. Her resignation from this post was accepted. The Fireside Club held its regular business meeting on Monday evening in the basement of the First United Church, with the president, Mrs. F. Anglin, in the chair. Legion Gives Stag Party in Honour of Concert Party Saturday evening witnessed the preâ€" sence of a very happy gathering in the Legion hall, the occasion was a Stag Party to honour the visiting "Ritzin‘ the ‘Blitz" concert party. This talented group of artists were in Timmins for the recruiting rally now under way and were all members of the armed services. The party was a very happy one with several of the visitors giving short numbers. Those of the troupe who obâ€" liged were Red Ainsworth, pianist: Bob Barrett, Rex Doyle and Wally Crouter, vocalists. Bob Barrett also showed that he could step to a fast tempo in an intricate tap dance. Each and every one of the troupe was enthusiâ€" astically encored and responded very generously. Interesting and Entertainâ€" ing Programme at Event. Members of the Legion also did their bit towards the success of the evening. Those of the branch who entertained were W. A. Devine, pianist: Bob Whiteâ€" man, Les. Nicholson, Joe Ormston, Jimmy Cowan, Jack Hill, Art Jenkins, all in vocal selections: Al Wetmore and G. A. Macdonald in stories. One interesting number was the piano duet of the two pianists. Anâ€" other was the generous gift of the Pol-l ish White Eagle Society of a donation to the Legion Cigarette Fund. The| success of the event was due in large| measure to the work of the entertainâ€"| ment committee who served a very tasty and refreshments during| the evening. President Austin Neame acted as the chairman for the party and this came to a close with all singing the National Anthem. Mcâ€" Fadden of Timmins. The ceremony took place in the rectory of the Church of Nativity. The bride was attractively attired in a navy blue tailored suit, with small blue and white straw hat bearing a corsage of red roses, sweet peas and short veil, matching accessories and a forgetâ€"meâ€"nots. She was attended by Mrs. C. Knight, who also wore a navy blue tailored suit, with heavenly blue hat and accessories, and a corsage of roses and sweet peas. Mr. Wm. McPadden attended his brother as groomsman. In the early evening, a wedding dinâ€" ner was served in the diningâ€"room of the Fern Cottage Restaurant, ,where the bride‘s mother received guests in an ensemble of embroidered blue crepe with matching accessories and a corâ€" sage of roses and sweet peas. She was assisted by Mrs. McFadden, mother of the groom, who chose for ,%15; occasion an afternoon «dress of ited crepe, with a corsage of white carpmations. Girl Guide group received many friends at an afternoon tea and sale of homeâ€" baking in the Hollinger Hall on Saturâ€" day afterncon. Individual tables, with Mrs. Osborn, Captain of the Guides, received the many guests, while Mrs. James Keene, Regent of the I.0O.D.E., and Mrs. 8. Wheeler, Guirl Guide conâ€" vener of the LO.DFE., presided at the téea table which was very attractive with its fine lace cloth and tall vase of red roses. a centreâ€"piece of red roses, comfortably seated the guests, and a dainty afterâ€" noon tea was served to them. Thelma Pooley was in charge of the tickets, while Joycee Parks and Viola Harnden convened the bake table. A large quantity of pastries, cookies and cakes were sold during the afternoon by these young ladies, who began the afternoon with an excellent assortâ€" ment. The programme was made up of vocal and instrumental selections by the Guidses, accompanied by Mrs. W. Mackie at the niano. Ruth Holland was in charge of the programme, and each member of the Guides,took part in the chorus which sang several numâ€" bers. Ann Phillips and Grace Blackâ€" man gave a piano duet; Iris Morgan sang a lovely vocal selection; and Joyce Parks and Florence Richard joined in a vocal duet. A cuilt, made by the Guides for the Bombed Victims, and ready for shipâ€" ping, was displayved during the afterâ€" noon, and brought many compliments on the excellent work which had been done. Ladies‘ Auxiliary Has Sent Nearly Four Hundred Parcels Anderson Home is setting for Charming Afternoon Teaâ€"Sale The twinkling light of four tall pink candles cast a friendly glow over the lace, silver and china of the tea table at the afternoon tea and sale of bakâ€" ing held at the home of Mrs. R. S. Anderson, 28 Toke street, under the auspices of the Golden Chaptér, Imâ€" perial Order Daughters of the Empire on Wednesday afternoon. Ths light seemed to pause in tribute to the lovely African violets which centred the table and which completed the decorations in the other rooms. Mrs. Jas. Keene, Regent of the I. D. E. and Mrs. R. S. Anderson, reâ€" ceived the many guests, while Mrs. J. A. McInnis, life member of the Proâ€" vincial Chapter, and the first Regent of the local Chapter and Mrs. wWm. Pritchard,. presided at the tea table. Mrs. Ed. Robinson and Mrs. T. Marriott convéened the bake table which was filled with a variety of good baking. Mrs. A. Special to The Advance. At a small public tea held in the Maâ€" sonic Hall on Monday a very lovely homeâ€"made quilt in "Dutch Girl" deâ€" sign was won by Mrs. A. McPhate. This quilt was the work of three ladies: Mrs. M. W. Clement, Mrs. Dan Reed and Mrs. C. Jamieson; and has been on exhibition in Cameron‘s window for some time. The proceeds of the tea and the quilt which will amount to between thirty and forty dollars will be handed over to the South Porcupine Fund for Britain‘s bomb victims. This group of ladies are great quilt makers. They made 11 for the Red Cross in the last three months of 1914, and have just completed eleven more for the same worthy cause in addition to this "Dutch Girl" quilt drawn for on Monday.
