Hollinger Greenshirts Swamp The Dome Jackie Young, complete master of the fightâ€"atâ€"this stage, broke away alone again in the third period as he took the dise away from Johnson at the blue line and pulled Porter away out to slip the rubber in. On this play, Young made Johnson look foolish as he slipâ€" ped the puck from him and went in with nobody to beat. Eleven minutes later â€"Jackie Ladds smored his second direct. hit on the Mcintyre flagship when he picked up a wild McIntyre Ppass and screeched in alone to drive the dise past Porter. It was a cripplâ€" ing blow to the MciIntyre battle fieet but it was left to Jack Young to finally sink the crippled ship. There was only three minutes left when Young drifteq in for the kill. Everybody had taken a shot a Porter before Jack finally got his stick on the rubber and when he took a shot he didn‘t hit any of the posts but aimed for the centre and almost drove the putck through the twine. For the remaining three minutes the MciIntyre club fought fiercely but they were fighting a losing battle as Brownâ€" lee decided that he was finally going to get his shutâ€"out. He had come dangerously close to getting one on two or three previous occasions but this time it was his day. His efforts in the 3 .Jv.. In the second period the attack beâ€" came more ferocious than ever and *the terrific power of the Ankerite gunâ€"boat was too much for the Admiral‘s fleet. In one of the many fullâ€"time attacks Jackie Young slipped a heavy bomb amidships to send his outfit two ahead. Ossie Carnegie was chased for tripping Holouka and at the height of the Intyre invasion of the Ankerite citadel. Jackie Ladds broke away and got in the clear to cripple the McIntyre batâ€" tleship with ancther torpedo. Manny McIntyre got credit for an assist. on y the play. Jackie Ladds was given a penalty in the first period and just as he returned the Ankerite crew scored their first direct hit when Bill Lahti dented the twine at the 8.50 mark. It was the only hit scored in the first encounter but "Admiral" Nelson‘s flagship limped Ooff the ice licking its first wounds. In spite of the heavy torpedo attack launched by the Ankerite crew the game stood out as a real thriller and there wasn‘t‘ a man on the ice working harder for the shutâ€"out than Brownlee himself. He made dozens of miraculous saves in the last few minutes as the Macs threw on extra power in an atâ€" tempt to save the whiteâ€"wash. Jackis Young, Jackie Ladds and Manny Mcâ€" Intyre were other players that stood out well throughout the entire conâ€" test. He hamâ€" mered in his own rekound on a power Russ Bentley, Greenshirt goaltender, was the outstanding man on the ice as he stopped shots from all angles and the three that did get past him were definitely labelled. Especially in. the third pericd the little goaltender playâ€" ed.â€" sensationally as he held the Bisons off the scoreshee when he was left with little: or no defence. Time after time," waves of Ankerite bomibers would swoop in on him, three at a tim.se, but he turned them back scoreless. In the second period the proceedings were enlivened when a freeâ€"forâ€"all ‘broke out when Horbul and McIintyre tangled near the Ankeri‘sg blue line. After the two started it didn‘t take long for the of the players to get into the scrap and soon every player on the team was mixed up in it. The fight was threatening to break out all ‘he way through the game. Mickey McCann put the Bisons off to their start when he pumped in the game‘s first goal just a little afier six minutes of play. Jackie Ladds was right in front of the net at the ‘ime and was ready to help cut but no help was needed as the shot slid in under Ben‘lev‘s arm. Near the end of the period Lahti sent the Bisons two ahead when he took a slash at Bob Young‘s rebound and deâ€" posited the rukber behind Bentley, who didn‘t have a chance on the shot. The second period started off with a ‘bunch of penalties and while the teams were disorganized Bentley was called upon to s:op many a hard drive. Delmonte was chased for tripping Jack Young and before he returned McInâ€" tyre and Stewart were chased for bumping each other around and trying to sktart a scrap. Near the halfway mark Haneberry was chased and while he was off Ossie Carnegie swooped in to score Ankerite‘s third goal. The shot was really burning and it was from straight out in front. Three minutes later Frank Baker gave the Greenshints a hops as he g@rilled a hard backâ€"hand shot from close in and it ended up in the twine behind Brownlee. Horbul and McIntyre then touched off the spark that started the freeâ€"forâ€" all and every player on both teams got mixed up in it before it was finâ€" ished. The Buffaloâ€"Ankerite Bisons fought their way back into a tie for the leadâ€" ersiip ¢of the local sec‘iion of the Senior N.OH.A. leagnue on Friday night as they battled the Hollinger Greenâ€" shirts for sixty minutes at the McInâ€" tyre Arena and emerged with a three to two win. Watson was second The fighting heart of the Dome Porkies almost pulled a bad game out of the fire last night at the Porcupine Arena when the Porkies fought their way back into the running after trailing by four goals in the second period. They finally got the score up to 5â€"4 but then they were stopped and the Hollinger steamâ€"rolled in two more goals to make the decision safe. Right The game was one of the fastest seen here for some time and the ice was very hard and fast but the play seemed to develop more into a game of shinny when the puck got inside the blue lines, The leading scorer of the night was Alex Stewart who gathered in thres goals to boost his standing in the scorâ€" ing race. One of his goals was a nice soplo effort and the other two were set up for him by Mike Miller. The loss left the Porkies farther down in the cellar and +hey will have to snap out of their losing streak soon if they want to stay in the running. Tough luck was the cause of last night‘s loss and coupled with that was the loss of two of their best daefencemen, Al Taylor and Neil Pirie. Pirie left to join the Royal Canadian Navy and Taylor was sick. Their places on the blue line were filled by Manny Mansâ€" field and Myles.
